Well the replacement gearboxes from Imex came this afternoon and they fit and work great however at crawling speeds the speaker buzzes? Never did that before so it must be the new gearboxes, if it were a car I'd say a bad ground but would it be the same for these? They gave me a set of high torque motors with the 4.1 white gearboxes so when I order the regular ratio gearboxes but with steel gears from Mato I'll have the high torque motors for them!

Any thoughts about the buzzing sound at low speeds? As soon as I give it more throttle it goes away and then if I go back to the slow speeds it doesn't do it so I'm kinda scratching my head.

Your KT is 2.4 gig right Jack?...shouldn't have that sound...usually happens when the battery is low and mostly on the crystal sets

It claims its a 2,4 gig tank yet thats exactly what it was, the batteries were almost done. Recharged and now nothing. How do I tell if its really a 2.4 gig and that I didn't get screwed?

Good Morning, Jack,
Does the TX have a long collapsible metal antenna on it? Does it have a crystal plugged into the front of the TX and a matching crystal plugged into the bottom of the tank or in the battery compartment? If not, odds are that this is a 2.4GHz tank.
regards,
Painless

The TX has a plastic antenna that folds over, no crystal that I can see either. Thanks Wolf!

Ok so I ordered the steel geared stock ratio gearboxes from Matomart. I figure these along with the high torque motors that came with the Imex 4.1 gearboxes and it'll run like a champ!

Oddly enough when I installed the 4.1 white metal gearboxes from Imex they seem to run at about the same speed as the stock gearboxes did so I figure the stock ratio steel gears will be just fine.

Matomart also had the jack that I lost and the mudflaps I broke so I got them coming as well.

I had thought about getting some upgrade parts but to try to build and upgrade 2 tanks at one time I think my wife would kill me so the KT is #2 for getting rebuilt with all the metal goodies and photo etched stuff I can get my hands on.

Usually like Painless said...there's no extendable antenna on the TX unit... also inside there is no mother board just the RX
