NO DIFFERENCE Painless. ... which brings up ...what happened to the old one... and why do you need a replacement

Afternoon, Alpha,
On the Pershing I am beginning with, everything in the turret is hard wired to the board in the lower hull. One of the main reasons I am upgrading this old grrl is the electrics. The tank runs great now but I am unsure how long before the main board goes. I have already replaced one of those on an equally old Tiger 1 and all of that soldering is interesting to say the least.

Sorry for the inquiry Painless....remembered that after I posted lol... but yeah I have two spare harnesses you are welcome to one of them ...no problemo ...figure with all the old boards I have I can solder all the same colored wires and make some super long harnesses later

Post got in from Murphy Ma at Mato Mart. I'm curious to see how this HL 2.4 unit does. I am already happy to note that the smoker can be switched on and the sound can be adjusted from the TX. Manual binding with a button is different from Taigen but I see that I will be able to again add a working spot light, to the Pershing now. Pic:

Nice acquisition Painless... think you'll like it ... kind of puts pressure on me to finish the barrel though
Did you try testing it on one of your other tanks?... You might think about it

Good Morning,
Everything is working so far. Biggest electrical bugbear will be soldering the bow MG points to the right connections on the eight pin board in the bow. I may use a Deans 2 Pin plug so I can swap them around easily. Yeppers, I am looking forward to that barrel all right. My Pershing has barrel envy from all the Tamiya Pershings clanking around with the correct length ones. ;o)

I can't tell you how lucky you are Painless... I just finished the barrel...took 8hrs... and as I did it...thought... dang...you are going to be the only one in the world with a working BB Pershing.... as I remembered Tamiya doesn't make a BB tank only IR.... maybe Taigen... but I think Taigen has the same dimensions as the Heng Long....so I would ask only one thing of you... If you decide not to use it... send it back to me .... it's probably going to be the only one I ever do ...as it is very labor intensive

Alpha, I am sure that it will be put to use. A solid metal barreled airsoft Pershing is a grand thing to be sure! ;o) Nothing in the post today but I put the time to good use opening the tank and seeing what could be salvaged. I looked mostly at the lower hull since the upper and turret are slated for replacement already. The bow mg led will be salvaged and moved to the new upper hull. Ditto for the speaker and the running gear. The tracks and gear boxes were new last year and will be fine to reuse. I will need to source a couple of new idlers and I have seen a pair of metal ones with removable caps for sale in Oz. They would add some needed weight at the bow. A new On\Off switch and power connector with a pin plugin will be needed as well as the double ended eight pin plug mentioned earlier. All in all, not bad for a very old Heng Long tank. ;o) Pics:

Alpha, it certainly does. ;o) Nothing in the post today so it turned into a soldering repair and reconnect day. I also managed to remove the worn idlers but due to a young and vigorous HL Glue Monkey from back in the day, I was unable to save them or one of the plastic idler mounts. Fortunately, I had already ordered the metal idlers with rubber tires and removable caps and metal suspensions arms to match this morning. Looking at the interconnected layout that the idler shares with the first road wheel in line, I may be ordering a couple more metal wheels but we'll see how easy it is to drift out those metal rivets that hold the arms in place.
