Re: Henglong or WSN Tiger I
Gentlemen please - let's calm this down. At the end of the day we are only talking about our model tank hobby. It is just that - a hobby. it is not war and on a global scale it is not even really that significant so please let's all be friends in the enjoyment of our hobby and, quite frankly bickering over it is unbecoming.
Personally I have the greatest respect for the skills and opinions of everyone on this forum and would love for it to stay a nice, friendly place.

Hey there Big Joe.... did you get your tag from Kelly's Heros? Telly Savalas was great in that movie...it still rates high on my list of war movies They sure don't make them like that anymorebig joe wrote:As I seem to have hit a nerve...post edited, my apologies.stug 85 wrote:Gang? Hi Alpha.
The tag's not from Kellys heroes. I'm a big fan of Russian armour...I'll let the history buffs work it out.

Re: Henglong or WSN Tiger I
well this topic has put me off getting a wsn or Hong leng tank for life and I am getting a Tamiya tank ( don't know which one yet) when I have saved up enough pocket money from what i don't spend in the sweat shop and pub, this topic is enough to put a newbie off RC tanks for good

Hello doombar... this is a good thing...there should be confusion when entering into something new... especially when it's a Hobby that will take up both time and money...luckily there is the internet... which provides a wider spectrum of views... when I started ... my best friend was Youtube...of course at times you have to read between the lines so to say...nothing beats a little research...I've never regretted the decisions I've made...I wish you the best of luck with the decisions you makedoombar wrote:well this topic has put me off getting a wsn or Hong leng tank for life and I am getting a Tamiya tank ( don't know which one yet) when I have saved up enough pocket money from what i don't spend in the sweat shop and pub, this topic is enough to put a newbie off RC tanks for good

Re: Henglong or WSN Tiger I
Ok everyone after reading all the posts on here I will say my bit as the President of the Manchester Armoured Division RC Tank club.
After running our club for over two years now and meeting every months at our club building plus doing public shows.
We have tried and tested every tank and every battle system.
At a meet we have around 70 tanks on display
Members tanks are run from 10.00 am rite till 5.00pm with only a few stops to recharge or Change battery's. So that's 7 hours running give or take stopping for a rest.
Taken into account our tanks are run on wood boards and carpet at our indoor meets we're minimal wear and tear is given to the tanks gears and suspension components.
When the weather is good we do go outside and run the tanks on grass.
Running a tank on long grass will eventually damage standard gearboxes and find out any weaknesses in the running gear.
At public shows and events were we have our fenced of battlefield public displays the tanks are run all day on short grass this is normally for two days even three days depending on the show a total of around 20 hours running time.
Our club tanks are driven at scale speeds at shows so the public can see that a WW2 tank would of moved like in real life.
In the past 2 years I have seen every breakdown happen.
This can be from tracks braking to gearbox faults electrical problems and suspension problems.
All these faults are caused from running on grass that is two long for the tanks.
Most of our members tanks have upgrades. plus we have all makes and models at our meets Taigen Mato WSN heng long Tamiya Asiatam models hybrids and scratch built.
We do see faults happen running tanks indoors but this is more electrical than mechanical as the indoor battlefield is tank friendly.
The floor being mostly flat wood and very short carpet it gives no real stress on the tanks running gear.
Basically you could run a standard heng long or WSN all day with no major wear to the tanks.
My advice would be if your wanting a tank that you can upgrade and make stronger with aftermarket parts then the heng long Tiger is a good buy.
Bearing in mind if your not bothered about the detail on the tank being wrong or don't mind and have the time to chop and correct the faults.
If your wanting a tanks that is cosmetically correct but will be harder to mod the suspension and other parts and you aren't bothered about electrics or sound then go for the WSN.
If your wanting a tank that has both of the above features plus more and can afford the price get a Tamiya. Or beter still a secondhand one
Now this debate is just about the WSN and Heng long Tanks.
The heng long tiger was one of there first models and has got cosmetic things on it that are wrong but can be corrected.
Heng long did bring out a Panther that used the lower hull of a tiger tank and was very wrong cosmetically! This tank we nick named the pan tiger.
The rest of the Heng long range of tanks are all very good cosmetically and all have some fantastic upgrade parts available.
Bottom line is basically the WSN has the better detail on the upper hull but the heng long has the better lower hull being made of a stronger plastic and longer travel on the suspension arms plus stronger gearboxes and motors fitted.
That's my advice and thoughts guys and what I no and have learned in the past four years of Tanking and running an rc tank club.
I hope my advice has helped some of you on this and we all have our own opinions on this subject.
