Good Morning,
Pale, steel gears? Amping up the tanks performance after adding the extra armor protection. Eerily like what happened with the full scale tank. ;o) This build looks better and better every day.

Painless

Yes Painless,
I figured this much work on the cosmetic end deserved a bit on the performance end. I think I am going to stick with the metal Pershing tracks instead of trying to work out the proper tracks and Tamiya sprocket issues in the conversion. Still time to make considerations.

I was fortunate to have a peaceful Sat afternoon. This gave me a couple of hours to play today. I started with the periscope on the commander hatch.

Then I busted out a mix of green putty and lacquer thinner and started putting the surfacer on the turret after having sanded it down. I put one thin coat on the regular surfaces and then 3 coats or so on the heavily textured, cast pieces. Then the mail lady showed up with a generous offering from Painless Wolf. A real nice 50 cal for up top. Thank you sir!!!!

I made a bunch of little stuff, the turnbuckles for the fenders and the towing points and lift hooks on the added lower armor. Then I mixed up some Miliput and finished up the welds where needed.

I made up a short tube to mount the LED for flash or IR. It mounts where the hole for the mantlet machinegun goes. I will cut to shorter length after the glue and Mili set up.

Then I moved over the rear deck and started a few of the mods there. Pics to follow...

Wow - what a great job you're making of this build! I really like your cast surface texture, your weld beads, and the way you boxed in the engine grills for the handles. You're farther ahead on yours than I am on mine, so I am going to use your green stuff-plus-lacquer thinner technique, and also make the raised fairing around the loader's hatch the way you did. -Mike
