Yea, I have seen that pic, early production turret kt...no track hangers on the turret.
look at the track pull cables and the towing cables...they have been painted over to match the tank.

here is a great colourized shot. See how the tow cables have no base coat dark yellow! This is the way I plan to do most of the tools I decide would have been on there when they did field camo. Take a look at the shovel mount. It appears they went around the mount but painted the shaft of the shovel with the red brown!

Hey just noticed I think this is the same tank in the B&W and the colourized photo. Note how the hull machine gun is wrapped and the dude sitting on the loaders hatch. What do you think??? The first B&W looks like a porsche turret but note the gun and mantlet. In the colourized note no spare track hangers. Interesting!

think i might be the same tank. the b/w isn't a porsche turret, it's a henshel.

No, no, I know it's a henschel (don't forget the "c") it's just that in the first B&W the angle it is taken on and with no track hangers kinda looks like a porsche turret.

Everything else seems to point to the same tank other than the fact that the B/W picture has a finer camo pattern than the colour one, but since they are re-painting it could just be the different between old and new. It was kinda strange that it has a full set of fender on the right side and not a single one on the left side.

That's true.... removing the fenders to paint it would make no sense but you never know. Just noticed your promotion???

like those cleaning rods dg, going to pinch your idea if you dont mind. was thinking along similar lines, but could think of anything for the ferrules. good idea using invisible tape.

Hey Jeff,
Absolutely use the idea!

That is why I am putting all the details of this build up on the forum. I got lots of good ideas from here and if I can return the favour with a few small ideas all the better!

Without putting too much effort into it here they are finished up awaiting flat clearcoat. These are really close up pics. I know they look a little rough but looking at them normally at even 6" away they look fine. Notice on the last shot showing the open end you see the tiny little flap edge of tape. I left that on purpose as that will go against the tank. It let me keep the edges of the tape on the same side for both ends so the seams line up and will be hidden. I put the seams down on the first shot to show this. I will crazy glue the flap down when ready. Using the tape lets you make the 2 different rods with 3 different ends and lets you make the different lengths of the ferrules. I guess that's the official name for the metal wraps! These will look great on the side of the tank and I am NOT painting camo over top of them! LOL!
