Time to figure out how to mount the gun.....start with some PVC pipeing....

Image

Image

and for some thickness.....and time to use some more king tiger parts...

Image

Image

Ok, thats a fail, time for some more armor....crazy how much this tank had...

Image

Well....while that sets, lets work on the rear deck...I was thinking about the shutters the july 45 king tiger was supose to have...

Image

Image

Image

Image

and it ends up looking like this....

Image

I still need to add screens and these vents are a little larger than the kt so more scratch work.....While I think about that, I will finish the rear grates.....

Well, I lived through Sandy, no power for 2 days....I live inland so it was mostly just really strong winds, not that much rain....Spent way to much time working by candle light....god, I missed my dremmel!!!! Hated doing this.....

Image

Image

the next step was messing with the screens....the king tiger screens don't really fit my new shutter grills...

Image

the first couple attempts were fails...Yes, I show how not to do it....

Image

Image

ended up just making a standard box and cutting off the corners....like I have stated before, I am a hack.

Image

made some shutters out of rr stairs for the fan vents...and added the kt screens....

Image

I can live with that....spent a little time on the rear plate....adding bolts and such...

Image

and after the light got crappy...I messed with the main gun....cut the side angles and changed the nose look, I will add bolts...

Image

and now its time for the 75mm gun mount( I will put the ir light in here when I am done...)

Image

Thats it for now..I have to prep the m26 for danville.....more next week.

I am thinking 128mm.....spent the weekend battling in Danville, this thing is going to have to get tamiya guts. Watching dbu, slu, elmod and other systems getting owned just shows the preformance has made up my mind......thinking it will be close to a $1500 dollar build with just tamiya tracks. The tract armor/fenders are gong to be a MF to get right. Pooped out the middle ones( the easiest), and they are a mess.
I need to sorce some cheep Tamiya recoil, / gun elevation parts to get the turret set up ready.........Its will be Great to have a turreted tank that an not be hit from the front or rear front or rear...only the sides....faced bob's jadgetiger with no hit front and that was a bear this weekend... this thing is going to be a monster....

I do like the sounds of elmod, Their ir pickups( the apples/mushrooms) seem to put you at a disadvantage in battle. At danville we were running the tamiya prisums turned so that it was harder to hit from the front/side/rear rather than the stock corners. The elmods could not do this, when battleing indoors, they were to good at taking hits. They seemed to take hits from reflections a lot. I found that if I was fighting someone that was hiding behind something but facing a big rock of building. I could shoot the rock or building and they would read a hit....I figured this out after I fraged one of my teammate running elmod with a relection shots ...sadly I hit him a number times til I realized what was happening. After I figured it out, I had to hold fire when there was a team member with elmod and when I was fighting someone with elmod, well just shoot around them and you have a good chance of hitting them....

All you have to do is mount the ElMod apple socket at a 45 degree angle and you get the same TFA effect...mine are that way.
ALL IR tanks are suseptible to reflected shots, Tamiya or ElMod. All the Danville regulars know it's an issue in the town section (light colored walls) and around the large rocks. Who other then me was running ElMod that weekend?

Scott, I am confused. IFA means Front armor is invulnerable...how is this tank different?
Also, ElMod will soon have a cap for the apple that will give the 45 degree defense, though some guys have made them before. It will be a slip on piece from ElMod. And for the record, ElMod also does not suffer from any hits being reflected that any other system doesn't. i.e. Tamiya will also take a reflective hit. This is all the same IR frequency.

They just seemed to take reflection hits more to the point I was using it in battles....I could be wrong but it would make sence to me that the germans would make a system that would be better at picking up shots than the people from tamiya. If it has been lab tested, then of corse I would say that I am wrong. Just seemed that way to me.
