Thanks Eastern Front,
Not sure as of yet, I got an itch to do an obscure Early Panther G from the 9th SS-Panzer-Division Hohenstaufen, call sign AJ 9. It fought in Hungary around Lake Balaton. It was in one of my Pather Modelling Books that I won at a model show last year. Real interesting story behind that kitty. Plus there are alot of excellent builds (hotte8487, jeff1101, jochen1944, etc.) on this site to use as reference but when I do a Late version, I'm leaning towards this one.

Going to be another one from the 507th, not sure why but I like the looks of that Abteilung. I should be doing the 3rd SS as my grandfather on my moms side belonged to that unit. Oh well one day, maybe a early Tiger 1 with a skull on the front plate will emerge from my hobby room. Thanks again and take care...

Sounds good brother,
If your coming up, make her quick as my posting here is up in 2014 and then it is back out west for me, also bring a snow blower. Are you going to attempt to RC the Verlinden kits?

Hey Eastern Front,
Thanks for the info on the book, looks really interesting, pricey but interesting. Where in NS are you building? Maybe with some luck the army will forgo my posting for an additional year and we can get together. Thanks again and talk to you later...

Re: 507 schwere Heeres Panzer Abteiling, Mid Prod Tiger 1
So here is some more. Been working on the turret as of late. Got the cupola attached to the turret roof, after sanding down the molded on ring. Added the double weld beads around the exterior, also mounted and added some details to the ventilator. Threw on a Schumo Antenna base and Loaders periscope guard with a welded plate underneath the guard. The periscope was removed on Befhels IOT (in order to) make room for the extra comms gear and map boards, I just used styrene to represent the plate. The always fun welds beads were add around the top of the turret,

I also detailed the underside of the commanders hatch, anal or what?
Probably will never be seen again.

Added the two Tamiya side vision ports and with the turret lifting lugs, I removed the HL ones and added the Tamiya pieces. On the rear, I used some aluminum tubing, a nail and some styrene dics to achieve the thickness. Of course you may have noticed the HL Storage box is MIA, using Tanks for the Memory's idea (Thank you), I lopped it off and grafted in the back piece. Finally, I mount the Taigen Escape Hatch and laid some zimmerit down where the opening is for the storage bin.

Just got to add the port side Pistol plug and start working on the interior electrical. Thanks for looking...

Hey guys,
Need some combat advice, I'm painting and weathering the drive train as I wait for parts and paint. I've started the chipping, rusting and oil wash process on the drive sprockets. Tell me if i'm doing to much, keeping in mind this was an early issue Befhels.
Before

After

I still have some silver highlights to do on the sprocket teeth yet I may allow wear and tear to take care of that as well as allowing mother nature to subsequently dirty and cake on mud. We'll see. I like the mud.
So, tell me what you think, to much / to little / just right or pound salt and paint. Open to all suggestions...
For Eastern Front, Zimmeriting is a whole lot better than this eye crossing chipping process, believe you me...
