Re: Fleshy,s other rebuild a panzer iv
Thanks Wight , the next step is to see if it,s a runner ,the MF05 unit sounds great ,nice too have a different noise on the battle field, it is controlled by the DMD from the pershing , I also tried out the DMD from the tiger 1 it makes no difference,.........so that,s a useful tip for you,.......the only drag that i have is that the elevation does not move much , but as the IR emitter is fixed this will make no difference to what angle the barrel is at, when fired.........,.in one of the pics you can see the modded side hatch stay,s with a pin inserted , and where it has been moved up upon
the turret side , as you can see at in the overall piccy the aerial is raised and this works well.
so now to paint her and then do all the refitting of parts removed ,I shall also be fitting a late H
or J side bin for the spare wheels, this unit is from asiatam and only cost a few quid so I thought that this would save me making one ,but as always a check at the pics show this bin has too be modded to make it right , the bottom shaved so there is only 0.5 of a mm clearance underneath ,
then the back thinned by a half mill, lower the top so the welded plates that attach it to the hull can be added and then make a brass rod to hold them insitu,.........now that I know she runs I shall disassemble her and show whats in the turret,,,,,,,,,

Ear muffers are available , thanks guys ,in this next batch of pics ,you will see the modded muzzle brake and the collar I made, just need to add the top nut and plate,.The broken rear idler ,there is a very small amount of thread left but it makes the overall length too short by some 1.5mm as I have bitten the bullet and re-ordered some new one,s today so should be here for the weekend,.Also shown here is the overall innards ,and the home built sound box (and don,t laugh) made from corrugated cardboard ,hotglued together ,must say lads ,i did try other boxes and speakers and this gave the girl a nice bit of bass ,as some of you will find out later this year,.......trust me a better sound than one made of plastic card,........the two turret inside shots show how it all fitted in ,and the fault that I had with the elevation was my own in the fact that I had glued the flash unit too close to the platform the recoil sits on,.........so will be easy fix,........

Next are the hull lifting hooks ,solid on the model but with a little work with a small drill and files seem to come out alright, the ones on the turret will not be worked even though they are totally wrong ,but as one will be covered by a steel helmet ,and other half hidden by the schurzen I see no point in doing it........ One of the armoured front turret plates has been removed and the hole opened up to receive the IR emitter ,the removed part was then fitted with a post so that it could be replaced when not battling or is on display,..............the thin line added is a thin strip of plastic card just to make the fit tight..........

I'm about to start my own rebuild-inspired by yourself and the build on the German MModel site-The thing is i'm stuck on the gun mantel, dont know whether to modify the existing mantel(free)(I want to keep it early-F1)or bite the bullet and buy the D sprue from the Tamiya kit(£20) .I've looked around the site and cant find a build where the cutting down is shown.Sorry to be such a newb, but If you don't ask......Ta

Hi General ,from what I can see the F1 mantlet is the same as the F2 so just copy what I did ,the only thing extra is too put a hot iron across the back to make it more pointed ,always check your reference piccys, you may be able too pick this up in this next batch of pics.........
Well lads here a bunch of picks of the first blow over ,still lots of painting to do ,but you can now see the whole tank blending in as one,,,,,,hope you enjoy these ,more later on........

Re: Fleshy,s other rebuild a panzer iv
Here,s a few pics of the tools removed and those replaced ,now waiting to be added to the hull ,also I worked on the jacking block by removing the top strap and made a handle with a base to it . and then added a strap from thin lead sheet and painted it,..........the rear light had a half bead of 0.75mm rod added to the middle of the unit so it would appear that it is hinged,...

Re: Fleshy,s other rebuild a panzer iv
In these pics I have removed the jack and the spare tracks on the hull side ,I decided too remove the tracks by just cutting the front upright as this will be easy to replace , plus one is broken so it will easier to replace one than make eight or more new ones,......the jack was modded by removing the two bottom lobes , and adding the two carry handles from thin wire , and then adding some of the missing rivets using dimensional paint with a cocktail stick,..filling in the sink holes with filler ,.......the tools still on the hull then painted and the retaining straps and handles added ..................
