Forgot to mention, the side Schurzen panels on my Jagdpanther are made from blank laminated card stock, similar to the cards found under some snack cakes. The laminate prevent moisture from being absorbed into the card paper and since I have a box of 100 cards they were handy and no cost.

I really had not intended to do the side Schurzen panels, but the paint was mixed and why waste the paint. Considering the cost and result I may try it again on the PANTHER G that will be my next tank after I finish with on going projects.

Have you seen the Plastruct products Sax? They are inexpensive and easy to work with too. They are polystyrene and come in a variety of thicknesses and designs. They have a large variety of stock that can be used for all sorts of modeling like smooth sheets, hex shaped stock that can be cut and used as boltheads, all sorts of textured sheets, and You can cut them with scissors or tin snips. You can sand and drill them easily. They glue quickly and very strongly to just about anything with a bit of CA. You can shape them by heating them in hot water and shaping. And they accept enamel base coats very well. I buy mine from the LHS as they have a nice display.

I've used their products in ship modeling and in the King Tiger I purchased without electronics. I will share this with you,I found the best cutter for their sheet styrene. A paper cutting board, the one with the cutting board scale included and the side mounted Knife blade with handle. The side edge of the board is metal so it cuts great and straight due to the backstop on the board.

They had these in school back before computers has taken over and the modern printers. I you can find one at a thrift shop or some other second hand store buy it if possible.
So I think I will give trimming the side guards down a bit a try that before making the Plastic ones.

I agree, those are nice for cutting a lot of things I have looked for one but the only ones I've found were new and with a price. :wtf:

I have installed the smoker unit which at Idle speed seems perfect for Dec.45.

Thanks,It is the first type Dan developed and has since improved by making them smaller. This is the unit at idle,it will sit their unmoving and all you here is the engine and if you turn the volume down you can hear the fan slightly, Because the HL smoker is so loud most tankers have never had exhaust smoke with no smoker noise.

more to come,Sax
