Hi Rob,
Thanks for the update mate.
Have you got "momentum" as well. I'm not sure of the dip switch settings but I'm sure they are the same as Darkith. Maybe Pete can help you with this as I've forgotten
I'm sorry the sound card seems screwed. I emailed Pete some big close-up pics of the wiring. Maybe he can help you with those as well.
I'm not sure what's happening with the Tower. Pete had some problems with this as well and got to a point where he got something working.
Hi Nick /Rob My Sound card is playing up must have a bad conection somewhere ,it plays sounds when it feels like it ,have changed the volume controls for ones from Maplins but still not working correctly ,I think one of the tracks on the sound card is a bit iffy, when I checked the voltage going to the sound card it is showing 5,6volts instead of 3,3volts ,could be the problem .
On the bright side the boards work fine plus one of the apples is working ,still have to range test the apple.
Have also found a way of stopping the whine noise on Darkiths boards when using the RX18 have sent you and e-mail Rob with a sketch have also sent one to Darkith to see if is O.K. (Im Not that good with elecronics )Basicly have tried to copy the setup that RCCommaned uses ,As soon as Darkith gives me the all clear that what Ive done is O.K. will post the sketch on here.
Hang on a second, let's see if I'm reading this correctly.
I say this Bubba with the greatest respect.
The problems I had with this system is well documented and needs no further discussion. However, I got two final and fully tested systems from Bill (RCCommand) in replacement of all the other various bits I got in order to try and get things working.
One of the final sytems has been installed in a Stug with a brand new RX-18 supplied by Bill. This one squeals horrendously and the sound files play erratically. The other one is still in the box and unused. I haven't had the will to try and install anything further until my friends Rob and Pete had a look at the failed bits that I was sent.
Are you now saying that the sound problems I'm having are because there is still a further fault in the system ?
Please answer this quickly, I really would like to know what's going on here.
the squeeling is a falt that is in all rx18 boards using a one to one sound transformer eliminates the adverse sounds the rx18 creates and normalizes the sound output when the sound is eratic and not consistant the voltage reg has been damaged as in the old burnt boards they have repaired and are testing as there is 5 volts where there should be only 3.3
ps when conected to an rx 13 or rx 14 there are no sound problems
So the fault is the combination of the module and the RX18? Which would imply the module is at fault unless their is some data on the instructions that direct the installation to address this issue.I thought this was all fixed and resolved some time back? I want a module I can use with the RX-18 PLUG AND PLAY. Blake
These are the replacement units Bill sent to you to replace the ones missing the track or the ones missing the track being repaired to be used? Here is the real question I need answered, are they reliable, easy to install, and the earlier issues have been resolved by Bill? Are the systems he markets today better because of the work done by forum members which is a good thing from my point of view.Sax
Hi Bubbajoexx Thanks for the heads up about the voltage, will try the with 2AAA batteries powering the sound card, and let you know what happens.Did have a bad conection on the card the solder point had broken away from the track ,traced it and resoldered it it worked but very intermittent ,have been looking for another bad joint but if it is power voltage will try the above.
As for the feedback sound to the speaker, this happens on Darkiths units as well ,have tried rewiring the sound card on a Darkith unit using 2 10K volume pots and a 22ufcapacitor like Buubajoexx uses on the Rccommaned sound cards ,see sketch .it has stopped the feedback (but not being an electromagian)dont know if its safe to use long term(will it blow something)Have been told by Darkith that its caused by the fets used to drive the motors being a higher frequency so basicly its RF interferance (this can be a nightmare to get rid of)cant cover the RX18 with foil or mesh need air to flow around it, even if you could cover it could then feed down the wires.
Cant blame anyone but Heng long for this the RX18 fets give more power to the motors but they are causing problems(have also seen it happen on Tamiyas)they should have used higher frequency fets then we wouldnt have been able to hear them (but would drive dogs mad).
Dont think there is a problem with the sound cards or Battle systems they work fine with RX13&14 boards its the Rx18 ,we have been asking for more power for the motors we have it ,but they should have taken a major step and given us a 20amp esc instead of a 7amp.
Maybe some one should look into changing the fets on the board to give us 20 amps if its posible
Hi Have tested the sound card using 2AAA batteries,it is working (good sound from card and RX18 )and still no feed back .So I will test this on a Darkith system Powering the sound card from batteries and conecting with 2 volume controls and a capacitor as per my sketch.Hopfully might have found a cure for the feedback nosie.watch this space for update.
