Thats really interesting. I saw an advert for one on the back of a modelling mag and I though it was a paper panzer, never saw or heard of them before, certainly would be a novelty conversion.

My Panther has just shown up and its brilliant (Thanks forgebear).

I saw a panther model in an old 08 military in scale that stuck in my mind. As mentioned, painted straight from the factory in red primer with quick hand painted camo, looks cream but was probably sand yellow or some such like. It has a three sided steel plate box on the rear (rusted to hell if I remember) for troop protection perhaps? someone may know better. It also had the IR system in the comm. cupola.

It looked a rusty, well beaten but evil piece of c--p, but it stood out and looked absolutely fabulous so I may go that way (next year now)after I skirt up my stug and decide what to do with my jagd.

My memory is hazy here but the germans got found out because of the wrong scarfs....the american mp's had blue or yellow, the germans got the colours wrong...the allies were very weary and jumpy after that episode(especially after malmedy)....lots of rumors, and stories of "werewolf" squads that operated behind the lines, but that could have been later in the war ...

The book "Tanks in detail" Vol 3 covers the Panther models A,D & G. It has illustrations of the Otto tanks.

Hi all . The Germans in US uniforms wore blue scarfs so the other Germans knew who they were . Im in a living history group and we did a photo shoot about this . In one photo I was the guy with specticals and tiyed to a post and shot . Well in still photos. Before this opperation the Germans captured lots of US vehicals but they never got to take part in the operation .

This place is a mine of information So what would the panzer crews of these tanks have worn, their usual German uniforms or captured US uniforms? Just thinking about what a commander figure would look like.

For the most part they used captured uniforms, most likely incorrect ones though. The Germans had captured plenty of American uniforms and weapons, it was vehicles and heavy weapons the lacked for the operation, as most German units were unwilling to give up captured equipment because they weren't told what it was for. It would be really interesting to see an HL Panther converted to one of these. Just another note of interest, to be identified, the crews of the Panthers were told to keep their barrels at the 9 o'clock posistion, and to paint yellow triangles on the rear of the tanks.

Hi all. Yer yellow triangles were used to reconise the vehicals . Not sure as to what the ttank crews wore.
