It will take some pros to get that beautiful tree out of the snag with no damage to the fence. Please keep us informed. I am crossing my fingers for good luck to you and your neighbor.

The world moves in mysterious directions.
Four big lads turned up in a couple of electricity board 4x4’s, from my former company. No names. No pact drill.

Not even ones I knew from the old Derby, or Nottingham districts. They were from Northampton? Apparently they happened to “just be” in the area, helping the local lads restore the electric in some of the surrounding area, and they had heard about the tree down. I have a vague idea about how they came to know, as I sent a picture to some mates on the shoot where I used to be a beater.

That is another few months worth of wood drying, for the cost of a few pints.

With the wood drying from the tree that came down in last October’s storm. It would have been rude to have left this in storage. So after five years, and three days work, it was lit for the first time since it was liberated from the house in England.

Imagine how that looks here in southern Wisconsin where since January 22 the temperatures have varied from -28 to -15C.

I can only imagine what you are going through. Currently we have no power, the road to the town is closed, and the ferries are off. But it is a mear 7c here.
You stay safe my friend. That also goes to all out colonists, who are affected by the bad weather in America.
