I'm inexperienced at such design, Alwyn, but a little question popped up in my pea brain: it there some way to adjust the drive chains? Maybe it would be a simple as slotted openings for the gearbox mounting screws (with, say, lock washers). I hope I'm not being simplistic.

Many thanks for the input on that, it's something I've been wracking my brain about. I think I've got a solution by making a sliding plywood platform for each gearbox with slots and screws/washers to allow tensioning and adjustment. All I have to do now is make it :lolno: 8O :crazy:

Still a huge amount to do. When I get to the side pods I'm going to make interchangeable male/female pods. There's also a baggage/recovery version.
