Is it one of these? The one with the holes is from the PzIII, and I have no idea what the holes are for and the manual shows nothing. The grey one is from the StugIII (Stug life).

related to the tauch panzer, didn't the allies have "aqua tanks" during d-day to support the infantry at omaha beach?

Yes they did. They used deep asking tanks and swimming tanks. These were Shermans, with an inflatable canvas screen around them.

Also plans to use Valentines that were DD, more for crew training, but a disastrous training incident ended it all for the Valentine. Sherman was definitely better suited to be a swimmer.
