Managed to get some paint on the Sherman yesterday.
Photos to post later and then I’ll start fitting the tyres and tracks, ready for weathering

Thanks Kaczor
This is a period photo showing the tank I (tried) to model it after.
The Schumo lifting hooks and light guards are perfect. My favourite add ons along with the periscope guards.

Decal time this week, debating a black star like the image below?
Thoughts?

I do like the low viz stars, less of a target. Sure is a staunch looking Sherman mr Lav

I think I have seen the blackened star although I do not know how it was done. I would guess it was a crew's "field modification." More commonly the stars were altogether painted over, omitted, or covered in mud to obscure them. Do you have any books on the Sherman showing the blackened star? So many Shermans (and other US tanks) showed only the registration numbers and maybe a small unit symbol or hand-painted name.

Certain divisions painted them black, or a darker olive. I’ll have to look into it more.
