Well, it was obvious over the weekend that we can open up this group build to all vintages because so much of the skill is transferable regardless. So here we go:
INSTRUCTIONS
I. This is a cooperative group build. We will be ready to ask questions and to help others, always respectful of others’ greater or lesser experience, skill level, and financial resources.
II. Start with a Military RC you want to (re)build. The choice of electronics, and suspension are up to you.
III. The type of finish is open, from the way the AFV looked out the factory door to any authentic type of camouflage.
IV. Aftermarket, 3D printed, and scratch-built parts are up to you, but not required.
V. The group build will start on 1 November 2023 and finish on 30 April 2024.
VI. We will try to provide regular updates on our builds with photos. On or before June 6, 2024 we will post "finished" photos.
By October 30 (to give me a day to set it up),
please PM me (Herr Dr. Professor) with the information on what Military RC you plan to build[/i][/b].
On November 1 (or if there is some emergency, as soon as possible thereafter) I will set up a group build thread (I welcome moderators' ideas) with a list of the builds. Then I will fire the starting gun (76 mm? 105 mm? 6 mm?).

Let's have fun, for this is not a race, nor is it a contest; it's a sneaky way for me to pester you all for more help with my zillion questions.
Ed
sounds great, maybe it will be possible to make a seperate section on the forum so everybody who takes part can have his/hers own thread, yet they will be grouped together?

So... What is the theme? Without it, every build on the forum after November 1 will be classified as a "group build"

I would like to stay with the wintertheme

I agreed with Kaczor: without some kind of unifying "instruction," any build qualifies. I am certainly open to a limit of some kind on the theme without restrictiveness so as to rule out different build vintages, as that openness was favored in earlier discussion. How about two threads: "winter" (doable with cold war and modern AFVs?) or "D-Day." (Of course, I understand Jee's favoring a winter theme, as he is in Siberia.

)
Your ideas...?

Great idea with options! E.g.
1) Winter theme (any year, any nation)
2) 80th anniversary of D-Day (vehicles of Western Allies from Overlord to the end of World War II)

Well, you can combine it if you make something that took part in the battle of Bastogne

I like the idea of two builds, one winter, and one for the 6th June. The winter one will allow me to update, and rebuild my T72. Money is tight at the moment, so to purchase a tank WW2 for the build was prohibitive. If finances improve the second part will give me the impetus to maybe get a tank to combat my tiger with.

I think we are all set. I will see if on or before November 1 one of the watchful moderators can set us up a separate '23-'24 Group Build section so each person can than enter a separate build thread.
INSTRUCTIONS
I. This is a cooperative group build. We will be ready to ask questions and to help others, always respectful of others’ greater or lesser experience, skill level, and financial resources.
II. Start with a Military RC you want to (re)build appropriate for either 1) a winter theme (any year, any nation); or 2) the 80th anniversary of D-Day (vehicles of Western Allies from Overlord to the end of World War II).
III. The type of finish is open, from the way the military RC looked out the factory door to any authentic type of winter or D-Day to end of World War II camouflage.
