"But gestures like this and others make me realise there's more to being in this hobby and specifically this gathering place than just plastic tank models." Bix, you are unwittingly describing yourself here. Moving to 1/16 scale and RC has given me in my silver age a challenge from which I have learned and continue learning---a kind of learning different from but just as exciting as my long academic career. Your contributions years ago on the late "Hobby Havoc" and your pointing me here to RCTW brought me to this renewed learning.

Thanks gents, was just cumulatively crappy period when lots went wrong in life, the hobby had become difficult to fund , parts are all non existent here so must come from overseas, creative burn out, all of that

But, what doesn’t kill ya makes you stronger & I certainly do appreciate the goodwill & support from you lot in ‘ere!

I came here for the tanks. I'm staying because this is a special community.

My Irish Nanny "Grandma" always used to say that better days are coming.

I went almost a year and a half through some tough times and I feel blessed that I found this community during those times.

Keep it up sir

"Parts are all non existent here so must come from overseas." Your "here" could describe Australia or the U.S. Shipping cost usually keeps me from ordering little parts that would work so nicely. C'est la vie.

Got to get out of this rut and back into the groove! ;)

Glad you're getting your mojo back, I think you've had more than your fair share of goings-on and have definitely deserved the break!

I'm a bit late to the party. Had a quick read through.
Then spent more time searching....
Found plenty of toys, models, kits and drawings, some by one would have thought reputable sources, with early tiger wheels. But no pictures except this one on the tank encyclopedia website.
Apparently it's the first prototype. Notice the early wheels in the late configuration. It even has early sprocket hubs and idlers.
Surely swapping the early road wheel positions to the late positions is simple enough to do if one was worried about accuracy?

The Box-On-Tracks is back on !

Thanks to Mr Glovers thoughtful incentive to get track tensioners , I am now relaunching this poor old thing.
I still dont have a crane or all steel roadwheels, but the crane I will make, and the wheels, well, they can get stuffed & be the rubber ones.

I am going to get this thing, even if it kills me :lolno:
The JpzIV/L48 was just enough to be making me get my act together & now its time to finish what I started.......

Will it be a working crane, Bix? If so, do show a "build" here of the crane. I'd like to find more of the mortars, crates for them, and make a working crane (well, fingertip cranked).

Might be a bit of a reach to make it work mate, but I do hope to have it animated in some way rather than just the stock plastic version.
Time will tell.
For now its getting the idlers back on so I can have a reliable foundation to go up from.
