Sounds like an example of crafty modeling! I always enjoy your project updates.

Re: UNLOVED BUT EFFECTIVE- SYRIAN 'FURY'
Thanks Mr Jimster.
Despite my tendency to bite off a lot more than I can chew at times, to make my tanks rough, its quite liberating once I do !!
Front plate is next for attention.
My one is sporting additional steel plate to augment the already increased thickness'd front slope. I will add weld in the middle, and some around the edges. The familiar T72 Vee shaped splash guard is gone, as are the spall bars in the middle of it.

Re: UNLOVED BUT EFFECTIVE- SYRIAN 'FURY'
Got the welds on the rear plate and front additional add on plate.
The rear needs a bit of cleaning up, but will be near enough.
I may add some form of bar/cage structure on the turret yet, not strictly the picture I chose but I am leaning more towards this tank being a generalised representation of how they all tend to look. Not sure yet, which is unusual for me as normally once I choose a subject picture I tend not to wander too far off that chosen track !
There is just something quite 'freestylin' about a Syrian Theatre Tank that I cant help myself

Cheers Mr Burger, it’s getting there!
I haven’t seen any of these in our scale so it’s a bit of pioneering

Re: UNLOVED BUT EFFECTIVE- SYRIAN 'FURY'
Damn the Torpedo's, on with the primer.
There is nothing that screams "stop thinking about it-and do it" like getting a coat of primer all over your model.
While I was going to completely ditch the subject picture and rage on with all & sundry, I pulled my own reins in & went with a subdued version.
Its going to be "A Tank of two Halves" with one side being plain like the picture, and the other/off-side being a representation of a hard urban street brawler with loads of features and debris.
I'm still looking at the relatively bare turret with lust for reinforcing bar cage filled with concrete blocks.................
My usual red self-etching primer with a light coat of Mr Surfacer 1200 over that has amalgamated the lot, apart from the rear plate.
That will need mounts for the log, and a lot more painting piss-farting to get the welded plates looking right
The mounting points for the anti-RPG mesh are drilled, and the 1mm nuts & washers are ready to be fitted...................no idea how, but they will be I'm sure !
The left rear sub guard section that has taken a massive and likely repeated bashing was a mission to get the RPG mesh to suit, but I am happy with it.
I've also got an unditching log to go on the rear plate that has suffered along with the guards & mesh from being belted hard enough to snap each overhanging end off it
Again, seeing video and pics of this exact thing makes it easy to include in my version.

Re: UNLOVED BUT EFFECTIVE- SYRIAN 'FURY'
Today I managed to slop the green over the lower hull and roadwheels.
The whole thing is going to have a really rough desert yellow and Sinai Grey camo over it, plus the weathering & debris so no need to get into hard core base coat features!!
I did run a shadow coat over the usual areas that need it, engine vents & under turret bins & turret overhangs etc, but the rest can be green & oversprayed with the desert camo.
Tick
