A little more time spent today removing more detail and finally the tracks. Next up will be pulling the road wheels and tightening up the adjustable rear idlers. I am still on the fence about painting the belly plate. Since this was a used vehicle ( apparently...bought, broken and returned then shipped to me as new ) ( I have perma repaired the break and the reason it occurred since ) there are some scuffs on the steel plate under there so primer and paint will probably be used. These things sure do fill up a large chunk of real estate eh !
Due to the low number produced, the pictures of real machines is oddly quite high, especially when compared to Tigers etc. I assume that the sheer size and potential power these things had was a massive point of interest for the soldiers looking at them post destruction.
Thinking themselves lucky they missed out on taking it on in a contest.

Do you have a particular machine in mind to copy, or are you just freestylin' it !?

It is an enormous piece of tracked armor! Longer than the King Tiger and almost as tall as the KV-2. I have Devey's Volume 2 of his 2 book series on the Jagdtiger coming in the mail. This volume covers the operational history and I can pick one of those for a decal scheme. History points to these last armored units of the Reich being finished out in Dunkelgelb. I am interested in doing one in Panzer Grau with highlights similar to the excellent stock paint job on that Taigen version. So as always with my controversial self, partly Historic, partly Fantasy. I really like the idea of a black main gun barrel with a semi gloss iron finish.

Thanks to a couple of German sites and the Aid of the Omnipresent Grip of Forgebear, said bits have been located and ordered. While the Mate streamed this afternoon, I took time to remove the road wheels and idlers. Not so simple as it sounds. I will use Loctite as well when I screw those tiny grub screws back in. I think I will file a flat in the axle stubs to provide a better grip tho' . I should not have to crank down on them like the factory did to tighten them. Using a couple of circlips from spares, I took 95% of the slack out of the idler mount brace \ adjuster. Very pleased with that and a useful sprue of Tamiya King Tiger parts ;o)

Working on the Lower today with files and various grits of sandpaper. I got the road wheel mounts smoothed out ( went into town and picked up some new 3M Blue tape for masking the road wheels ) and made up a brass mount for the rear convoy light. I will need to find a micro plug in Spares to solder an extension on to get it working. I am pleased with the mount that I made up. Looks like the Aber brass mount ( which I have and was going to use but decided at the last moment was a little flimsy for a Runner ) and is _Solid_!

The Second Volume of the Devey books came in. For vehicles with a short operational History, Jagdtigers certainly got around. The book is fascinating reading and will be invaluable in helping me to pick a vehicle to base mine on.

Today is a Hard Day. So Hard that I am broken by it's weight. I lost my Best Boy last night. Jack had been ill for some time but had stayed with us because I had asked him too. Many times. He had broken his leg somehow, running around outside before bedtime. Griffy and I ran him up to Pueblo to the Emergency Clinic and had him x-rayed and treated. That was when they found the cancer in his bones. That was why his leg had broken so badly. Jack went to sleep on our arms and now today is so empty. I will be back to continue this Build and all the rest when he brings me back my smile. I have lost it for now and he went to find it for me like the Best Boy that he is.
