Short clip of the Dukw running. Most of the major work has been completed and I've given it a coat of olive drab, still plenty of work to do on it yet though

Hi. It looks really great and operates smoothly, the sounds are good too. But....

Now please understand l'm about to make a constructive criticism - the noise from the electric motor and/or transmission spoils it!

This is a very common problem that most of the trucks shown on this forum share. Cheap, small motors are noisey. I'm not sure what the solution is as if you have a prop shaft to a propeller too there's more noise potential. Maybe lots of silicone grease could help. The alternative is to do what l have done in the past and used 540 motors and Tamiya transmissions but the costs will soar.

I wonder if you could sound insulate the motor can? I hate seeing our superb efforts being compromised by toy grade components that some of our suppliers like to use. Still a superb model though.

Thank you jarndice, it's been a while in the making but I'm working my way slowly through the production line of unfinished projects

I agree about the whining motors GJ the speaker volume for the truck sounds was turned down quite low in the video and the echo from the wooden floor in the living room doesn't help I tried it with the volume up full and it's a tad less noticeable so I'm hoping when its run outside it will blend into the background noise a bit

Never mind about the motor noise, the warning sound from the Titanic (or was it QE 2?) give me a much welcome surprise, and a full chortle
Make no mistake, Lee, you've done a wonderful job- as usual. It looks the part completely.
If you can tone the motors down, fine- but whatever you do, don't change the QE 2 hooter!!
I had an uncle who used to service ambulances, and cop cars, for the Strathclyde (Glasgow) authorities. He also had a passion for trains, and managed to fit a two-tone Intercity horn to his car (quite illegal, of course)- but the sound could shatter local windows, and passerby spectacles

Thank you Roy, I'm glad it amused you I don't think there's any better way to say 'coming through' than an extremely loud hooter It also has a siren but I thought that would be a bit over the top couple of little jobs to finish up and I'll call it done ( for now )

Absolutely brilliant and the details are great.
The sound unit is superb, the truck drives well and smoothly.
Nice control speed from the motors. They will have good torque I am sure.

Thanks for looking in Max, I haven't fitted any tail lights to it yet, it wouldn't be that difficult to do though as I could run them from the same switch as the headlights
