If you are looking for a grumpy old man who mutters to himself in a darkened workshop while bug*ering up a Tank you don't have to go to China.
I humbly offer myself and I would wager a large sum that I could include a lot of other Forum members and what's more I don't charge £4,000.

If you think HL is expensive, try Warslug. Lovely work but oh, their pricing is more than crazy. I absolutely love the FT-17 but for US$6,500, I'll pass. These guys along with HL are catering to the new rich laoban collectors here in China - not hobbyists overseas. Was chatting just yesterday with the owner of War Park, a new Shanghai upstart in pewter WW2 German military miniatures, & his comment makes my point: "If the customers think the price is high, he will not have a big house. My friends who have big models all have big houses and are willing to pay big money."

This is one thing about our hobby that has always bothered me. Just because some fool is willing to pay that much doesn't make it right to charge that much. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there's a difference between making a fair profit and rippin' folks off, can ya dig it?

You're talking about business. I don't think businessmen care too much about ethics. What they really care about is $$$. Because the demand of models are so small, I think this is why they charge so much for such a small thing. You can buy a real car with that price.
To own a 1/6 model tank. You'd need a lot of pre-conditions. This is a heavy weight beast which weight something around 80 ~ 120 kg. If you live in a 10 ~ 20 floor unit of a condo, it's impractical to move the beast up and down even though you have an elevator and if you drive a sedan, you almost have no mean to transport that beast.
For the Warslug products, I can only says "Vow" and only vow! The products are superb and look like they did a lot of study on the real tanks before designing the models. So they don't have the incorrect scale like Heng Long. I don't know how their quality compared to Armortek but their prices are crazily expensive. Look at the prices of a KingTiger below.

I think the nearest British equivalent is "If you have to ask the price of a Rolls Royce then you can't afford it".

I saw them last month at SIME - Shanghai International Model Expo - & had to ask 1) who their market is? 2) why not offer kits like Armortek? & 3) what's your expected ROI per model?. Their answers were: "worldwide", "customers don't want kits" followed by nothing but blank stares.
When I asked about future releases they excitedly told me for 2019, first up is a Tiger 1 & M4A3E8 "Fury" (not the least surprised) followed by Churchill &, get this, Tortoise. I asked why not focus on an early M4A1 - their castings are excellent - and consider the variants they could build upon it, again nothing but a blank stare. When asked why not focus on other subjects not covered, especially smaller, more affordable & easier to handle such as a Crusader or Pz1 & 2, was told that's not their market. In parting I told them regarding the Tortoise, they'll be lucky to sell as many as were built.

They have Facebook page, you can interact with them. I'm not their fan though
