YHR,

Its an automatic thing enacted by one individual, I'm glad you complained as I was quietly thinking the same as you... I will deal with this.
Best Regards,
Mart

Thank you.  A community is what you make of it. Stuff like this is very dangerous.  As I mentioned in my earlier thread , you judge someone by the text they write.  When a forum automatically replaces written words with those of its own choosing, you definately cross the line of editing. You are creating your own agenda, and this can totally change the context of the message.  A very dangerous practice, and in all my years on the internet this is the only forum I have been exposed to this.  In my opinion a very black day for this forum.  How ironic

Indeed, which I why I prefer to hang out here. (even before they were crazy enough to make me an admin!!) ;D ;D ;D

The Admin team is determined to make this the friendliest R/C Tank forum out there, while the aliasing of "that other forum" started out as innocent joke, its obviously one that not all users understand. I have raised this with the rest of the admin team and I expect to have this sorted out within the next day or two. Let me assure you that there was no malicious intent behind that mod, well, maybe a little bitterness at the (continuing) treatment of some of the club members at the hand of that other forum... but nothing aimed at forum users ;D

I'm going to be out all day tomorrow (RC club display - 6th June and all that!), but if you still feel that there is a problem please PM me and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks
Mart

All of this is fine, maybe it was an oversight, but I will be watching to find out out that this "prank" is rectified.  Plain and simple I wil not contribute to a forum that deliberately, without notice , changes what I have written to suit its own needs.  It breaks a fundemental trust in free speech.  I did not write those words and yet in this forum they stand as I did.  Totally unacceptable.

How long has this been going on??????.

Hello YHR,

This is my own personel opinion as a forum member here on RCTankWarfare.
Although an additional title that I have here "Intolerator" gives me certain power's that the average member does not have,I'm very happy to say so far I have only used it one time to remove a lewd post by some clown.I have also blocked a fair ammount of spammers who was removed later on by those who have the power to do that. All the staff here if you wish to call us that are active into one hobby or the other and are not here just to be a police force. But then also it is not hard to realize that some form of control must be maintained on a forum and one person can not do the job by themself.

We also have A "modd--section" where the staff can discuss different things concerning the forum in general and any problems that may have come to light.Suggestion's are made and discussed and through that means the best course is chossen and used for the betterment of all.

Now for myself---------This is from me as a member only---

Some of what you say above does apply in certin ways, but in other ways don't apply as far as I'm concerned.First off this is the general posting area and a lot of latitude is allowed here and should be.
Discussing this forum and any other forum relating to hobbies is not out of line in this area.(where else would it be fitting to talk about such matters) One problem I was allways troubled with was a member going into a post that in reality they may have no interest in other than to state the fact that they don't think this post should be here or don't like what is being said in it.What may not be interesting to me,may very well be interesting to others. This is what forums are all about----If this is not one's cup of tea I would say stay out of it,or join in and offer one's own opinion trying to kind of stay with-in the subject matter. (although I have been guilty of wondering off topic many times   ;D ;D ;D Trying to improve on that though )

One of several reasons I left (RC UNIVERSE) was the fact that members were allowed to enter in to personel attacks on "members' and or "slanderous statements" about the project they were working on.(a lot of them aimed at me in general) One was just supposed to set there and suck-it-up I guess, well that don't work to well with me.This goes right back to the modderator's for letting this take place and soon it gets so more and more members think they have the right to do this. This is for sure not right for the member, and it is for sure not good for the forum. All the potential new members (and existing members) must feel they can post and join in any discussion of their choice with-out the fear of being attacked. This must also apply to any of their builds they may be working on.

Many -many -times I have seen a project or build where someone would go in and point out everything they thought was wrong with what was being done. This is just plain rude and uncalled for,and can be a real obsticle that some new people to a hobby may not be willing to take.If someone asks for opinions on what they are working on then the "door is open" and by all means offer your opinion.Other wise don't say anything, and if you like what they are doing or it looks good to you---say so in a reply.

If one looks this forum over and all the possible catagorys for about every asspect of tank building, there is a place to go to get into some serious building--teaching--and showing a particular brand and model. In fact there is a place here for just about any hobby that I have ever been interested in----And all avaible on the main page at the click of a mouse.

This forum is free---you can belong to any number of other forum's if you choose---It is going to prove to be one of "if not the best" forums you will find on the net---.Stand buy and watch and see if I'm wrong---- ;D ;D ;D ;D

I do have a plan here though----To have fun building on my hobby items--posting a lot of pictures of them----even posting some things in the off topic area that may have interest to some, but it may not be of interest to others---Thats OK  ;D ;D ;D ;D  I hope all this will help to make this a very active and fun place to be,and will entice others to join in on the fun.

Just my own opinion for what ever it is worth--- ;) ;)

                                          BIGMIG  ;)

P.S.  Even I had to come back and hopefully edit out "the other nasty forum"    ::) ::) Not my wording--- ::) ::)

I think you are missing my point.  I could care less what topics are being discussed and where.  I am accountable for my word and opinions  The point is this forum has a program to replace The other nasty forum with "other nasty forum" and then with no editing notation replaces the words that are actually being written. I never wrote "Nasty other forum" this forum added that automatically.  These are not my words, and they present a bias attributed to me that I do not have.

This is unacceptable.  I will not post to a forum that automatically replaces words in my text with those of it's own choosing.  I stand behind the ideal we are responsible for what we write.  How can my ethics allow me to be a member of a forum where crap like this is tolerated.

I choose to call this to attention as being unethical.  It is all about principles.

YHR.
To Answer your questions frankly, this has only been going a few weeks, and yes maybe the older hands here should have intervened sooner - its a just an in-joke that should probably have stayed on the admin pages
I am adressing your concerns with the rest of the admin team and I hope to have a more clear policy formed within the next few days (i.e - forum in-jokes stay with in the confines of the admin team >:( )

In the meantime please take a seat and relax while we put our house in order ;D - I saw your next post so please don't take this the wrong way - Larry and I are going to work this out.

Nobody here is allowed to intentionally offend anyone else, that is the most important rule of this forum - My appologies if you feel that we have crossed that line!

Ya, I will cool off and go visit RCuiverse for awhile.(Hopefuly by spelling it wrong it slips through)  Once I get back to blue brain thinking I will return to see if you have in fact cleaned up this mess.  Needless to say I am really quite pissed by this.  One thing to have mods pull your posts, but to actually change them and present a bias, contrary to what the author intended is really way out on the dark side.  I hope you are able to convince the others that a line has been crossed here.

YHR wrote: Interesting and I am not very happy.  It seems as though this The other nasty forum automatically gets written over with "other nasty forum".    Plain bull shit.  I am disappointed

What I wrote did not pertain to this problem. It even does it to us when we post. This was ment to be a joke but it is now a problem that will be delt with. One problem that occurs on these forums is things get posted out of order
often times, several posts can be written during the same time span at different speeds of those typing and get posted in a mixed up order---But thats life on the web------------ ::) ::) ::)

Hi YHR,

Surely you must realise how 'p*ssed off' we were to find that our accounts had been deleted or tampered with for nothing more (in my case ) than posting a link to a build on another forum.
Others over here even had there PM's monitored, breach of privacy or what????

I would also like to point out, that your last few posts ( if posted on RUC ) would have been deleted, and you would now no longer be a member over there.

Having said that, the issue you have raised is a valid one, and I am quite sure our admin team will deal with it.

Cheers
John
