the Aber kit is a pain and takes a lot of time just don't drop any, I used a couple of tweezers and pliers to help with the smallest parts they are far too small for fingers, I can highly recommend the exhaust shields they can be twisted and dented very nicely

The exhaust sheilds, and front and rear fenders were next on my list!

The Aber parts are a pain, I got one of the tweezers on a stand to help, though I may get another couple, just to help position pieces while I solder. I've been putting the commanders cupola set together, and despite the pain in the rear it is to put together, the detail is just amazing.
Sometimes though, you have to wonder if folding brass is really all that necessary. There's a fair few parts on the Aber sprues I may just fashion out of styrene instead.
My Tiger will be more of a shelf queen than a battle runner, so id rather go for detail than sturdyness.
Cheers,
Rik

the exhaust shields are very easy to make and from the Aber kit I would say that the exhaust shields and side fenders are the must have parts for any Tiger build, as for the front and rear fenders they are not sturdy enough for RC use the first tap and they will be gone

I think you may be right with the front fenders, I may just alter the detail on the front ones, and add a moving side flap. The rear ones seem ok though, pretty similar to the stock ones, just thinner. My Tiger is going to sit on a shelf mostly, and probably only be run indoors. I may take her outside on the rare occassion.
The side skirts and exhaust sheilds are definites though, along with a lot of the other aber details.
Cheers,
Rik

A little update today guys. I've spent most of today working on the engine bay door. I decided as it opens I wanted to to the internal details.
I started by lining the inside with plasticard, then got distracted, lol. I wanted to make the little latches under the handles work. So after many failed attempts I got one finished. The first picture shows what they should look like, then the second is my attempt. It took so long to do the first, and lets say I got a bit grumpy after the first few attempts, that im taking a break from it at the moment.
I also attached the wonderful schumo armoured engine cover. The central air duct cover will be removable as well via a nut and thread on the inside. I'm wondering if I can rearrange the internals to fit one of verlindens maybach engines in there. I dont think i'd have room for the whole engine, maybe just the top half. The MFU sits just under the engine hatch, and I need room for the speaker and smoke unit, but we shall see.
I'll post some more pictures when i've got a bit more completed.
Cheers,
Rik

Very nice build.Compared to my sherman there seems to be loads of room inside that tank!
Some really nice detail additions too, great work.

It is pretty roomy in there, but Tamiya decided to fill a third of the space with a giant speaker box.

That will be sorted soon enough though.

The KT is even more impressive space-wise. Thanks for the comments though, but my attmepts are nothing compared to some tanks on here, like your Sherman Wight. I decided, if I was going to add detail, why not go all the way. The bit im dreading is painting though. I was never very good, lol.

Rik

Some more pictures!

I finally got the engine bay door finished, it took me long enough, lol.
It needs some tidying up, sanding, and a touch of primer, it looks a little rough at the moment. Its not 100% accurate, but good enough for me.

I made it look like the fiefel holding brackets have been cut off and an armoured exhaust cover added, thought it would add variety.
Tell me what you think guys.
Cheers,
Rik
