My ElMod is the version just before the fusion so things might have changed a little bit but track squeaks are a very short clip that is played randomly with the running noise. You can have a few different track and chassis sounds and they are played randomly so there is no real pattern to the running noise. To my ears they sound fine and blend in well. On my Tiger the stock settings play squeaks a bit too often for my taste so when I get around to overhauling it next I will reduce the frequency of them and that's one of the key features of the board; everything is configurable. If you don't like a particular squeak noise, just remove it or don't play any at all, it's up to you. I can't remember off hand if track noise volume is able to be set independently but most sounds are which is a feature I really like and I'm not sure if any other boards offer it.

My best advice is to do a youtube search for ElMod Fusion, there are a lot of different clips on there that will give you a good idea of how it does it.

[quote="wibblywobbly"]Just to add that the Elmod sounds are certainly not taken from a low quality You Tube video, run through numerous compression and decompression systems and copied onto their boards. They are created by a professional sound studio, and the board uses a very high quality system to process them. quote]

is this true ? Most of the Elmod sounds I have heard is highly recognizable from youtube video's ( trier-saumur-bovington) ;) But they are smoothly mixed and sounds good

Is the gearchange function able to switch on/off ?
will it 'change gears' while pivot turning ?

The gear change is a good question (this plus sound question in Maxmeker post) as I was taking to the TCB guys and they felt unless the tank is smoothly acel from stop to start that effect can look odd or jerky. I also wonder if it can be switched on/off and if not- would it trigger during neutral turns too?

I'm not sure about the origin of the sounds but the gear change can be switched off. It can also be fully configured in terms of the speed when the gear change happens, the number of gear changes, the amount of 'jerk' in the change and possibly some other parameters that I can't remember off the top of my head. Because the gear change effect is dependent on speed it doesn't happen during neutral turns.

Wibbly, I appreciate what you said in your post about turning a thread about one thing into a debate on what is better. Only one person on the thread actually stated that one board is in "fact" the best one out there. Well, that is still his own opinion, not any fact to that statement at all. If you offered me one or the other, ElMod is where I am going hands down. That is my opinion.

I am in agreement with what was said about the adjustability of the board. ElMod has more and does more than any other board out there at the moment, and the creator of the board is constantly working to improve it. Remember also that ElMod can be updated to the latest firmware through the usb cable on your pc so it is always up to the latest version. They ar eon top of things and one thing I will tell you for sure is that they are proven to work and to work well for a long time. I have had one for just shy of 9 years and it is still running just fine. This is an older version of course, not the fusion. But...I have sold and used many fusion boards since they came out. There has not been one issue. That says something. Tamiya electronics are expensive and some consider them to be the best out there. I have seen many of them fail. That also says something to me.

Wouldn't buy an ass sorry asp board if you paid me .... gps location and the ability for it to tell me who just shot me which I might say is pretty obvious during a tank battle if your watching your opponents.... qps location well thats plan stupid in my opinion .... what else does it do last year when I spoke to the creator of the board stuff all needed piggy back boards for smoker and i believe ( might wrong here ) also needs piggy back boad for sounds..... that idea is old news.
3 speakers it can ..... well try fit 3 decent speakers in a stug....lol

Everyone has their own opinion, mine is elmod.
