It appears the HAYA UK has the necessary 8-pin socket, and the cables to match.
He also sells the radio unit.
I will be getting my plug & cable from him shortly.

Have a look.
What is the blue socket for ?
I can't get the BB to work and the smoke unit only works if I plug it into the red socket.

The red socket is the power supply from the switch, if you have plugged the power supply into another socket then you should move it back there.
The smoke unit is turned on and off from a button on the new style tx, as this is designed to work with the T90 RX18.

Okay will do Mr Wibbly.

If I still had the board in a T90 I could check it, however, CN7 is marked SM so yes that is the smoker. CN1 is marked BAT, so that is the battery switch.

Unfortunately, the wires obscure the lettering in the box above the blue socket. What does it say? On an older board, there were blue wires linking to a binding button. Might be labeled ST.

Yip, its ST..............mine has the binding button in it.
I have the same new style T90 unit.

Blue is for the little binding button, the socket directly right of it is for LED lighting.
You have, indeed, mixed-up the smoker and battery socket. I am amazed that connecting it that way didn't make the smoke come from other places than the exhausts, though.
The large plug seems to be willy-nilly wired by HengLong. I have several generations of controllers, and the way the wires are stuck in the plugs are different on many cables. The IR cables have an extra plug coming on the turret side, and Taigen wires look the same, but are àlso wired differently, just to make sure one gets even more confused :sigh:
The only way to get at the heart of the matter, is dilligently tracing all wires from the turret motor, the airsoft motor, the micro switch close to it, and the turret-rotation motor, to the socket in the turret, or close to it, and keep the schematics provided by others in this thread, close at hand.

Hey guys I am still struggling with this upgrade to my Tiger I project that I purchased this board and remote for so thanks to eBay and Christmas sales I ordered a new Heng Long Tiger I with this dual soundset.
My plan is to open her up and basically take lots of pictures and figure out the wiring and hookup details so if anyone else is stuck with this mod maybe we can all benefit
