I actually have one side of the old tracks from my super P project. These tracks have the separate little end pieces. Wasn't sure if I could integrate those as the spare links on the newer version.

MichaelC,
If you have 6 links of the track that has the outer section molded in, I will be happy to purchase. Also, if you need track sections of the other type with the outer section separate, let me know.

I decided not to rework the bulky looking rear storage rack due to the fact that I would be covering up most of it. Trying to not have a tank that is too fragile for the outdoor IR battle grounds here in town. Slowly building up that ...lived in look. :) All of the tarps and cloth goods were made with lintless towels here in my shop. I made up a mixture of Titebond and acrylic paints watered down and tinted to color or choice. Still trying to figure out how I will do the mantlet cover with the same process, but yet flexible enough for movement.

Thanks Tom and Eric. I have a bit more work to do on the paint, but just some washes and dusting. Holding off on the wheels till I get this up and running. Then I will decided if I am going to upgrade the wheels, suspension and tracks. I am fortunate I had time over Christmas break to apply to this project.

Good evening,
Maybe some thin rubber sheeting like the inner tube for a 10 speed bike for the dust cover on the main gun? This one is coming together beautifully. Rolled right out of the rice paddies from the late 60's. ;o)
regards,
Painless

Thanks for the idea Painless. I was thinking surgical glove that paint would adhere to as well. The problem is, that once it is attached, then it will be permanent and makes working on barrel assembly, servos kind of tough.

Thanks to MichaelC, I was able to put the tracks together today. First, I permanently attached the transfer case on the drive to it's final resting place and added outboard bearing support for the drives. After the backing plate was glued up, I cut up thick plastic sheeting and locked the bearing in place. Then I was able to attach the outer cover, drive wheels and finally the tracks.

I worked a bit more on some of the mud and dirt paintwork on it this past week as well. Still a bit more work to do in the paint dept, but closer.

I ordered a TK22 for designed for the Pershing. So the sounds should be pretty good. Then a bit of wiring and this baby will be ready to battle.
