Heres some pictures to try explain about the gearbox shaft supports
This is a typical picture of the gearbox/drive sprocket arrangement. The only support to the shaft is the two walls of the gearbox and the length of the shaft has quite a strong leverage force on those two points.
Now this picture is from a Heng Long Leo2A6
Nothing special here, but with the addition of the plasitc collar it supports the side forces applied to the axle which gives relief to the above mentioned points.
And this is a picture of a mod I did by placing a large ball bearing in the hull side wall.

Arnie if you should decide to buy and fit axle support bearings you will soon discover that there is a variety of different sizes,
Forgebear sell a number of different gearboxes and when you read the specification he always includes the diameter of the output shaft which allows you to choose which size bearing you will require.
I am sure that you know that the higher the ratio the slower the Tank goes (more realistic)
My preference is 5/1 steel,

and never the Heng Long originals which have a high failure rate.
I hope this helps?

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Really helpfull
My mind is set, I will get me some of those supports.
I have been looking around, and all I could find with ball bearings are for the 7,99mm shafts. The Steelgearboxes have 8mm or 8,03mm.
And I want to get a 5:1 for the KV-1. For now the 4:1 Steel gearboxes in the Tiger and T-34 will have to do and I will see what ratio the gearbox that comes with the PzIV ull is, but I'm guessing 4:1 or 5:1.
Do you know if there are any bearing that will fit the T-34? I havent been able to find any.

I think the metal t34 comes with the shaft support bearings already.

Ahh, that might explain why I cant find any
Btw, how much does it matter, if the support have a ball bearing or brass bushings??

Arnie I would buy the ball bearing if it was a straight choice on price BUT the bush is cheaper and the difference in price really does not justify buying the ball bearing.

My Asiatam hul arrived. It seems they sent it with Steel gears, instead of Brass. Is it worth complaining??
To be honest, the sales thread on ebay only said it came with gearbox. Only the picture showed it to be brass.

If it's the black metal gears (I can't tell from picture) you should be okay. I think better than brass myself.

Its the black gears yes.
I thought they might be fine (or even better), but then again. I might be wrong
