Re: Late Tiger 1 chop shop
Keiser, yup my Holden G8 is still kicking butt! I love that car! I think it's funny, to get a real "American made" V8 RWD car General Motors had to import them from Australia!
They have the new Commodore as the Chevy SS but I don't like it as much as my G8 GT. That and my G8 was $30,000 out the door after taxes and tags but the SS starts at $49,975 and dealers won't budge on the price. It may be a nice car but for about $5000 more you can buy a Dodge Charger Hellcat with 707 horse power which is the most powerful, fastest 4 door in the world and it looks killer as well.
Sorry for the tangent but you asked.

Re: Late Tiger 1 chop shop
Back to the topic, in order to correct the turret location problem I'm splicing a Hobby Boss model Tiger upper hull top deck to the H/L uppers top deck and cutting the hatches to use the Taigen opening metal ones. I also have the engine hatch opened up. We're at the beach now when we get home I'll get some pics up on my Tiger build thread.

Re: Late Tiger 1 chop shop
Kiaser Hi, David will give you the definitive answer, but my understanding is, it was dependent on the theatre of operation,
The Tunisian campaign used Desert camo colours, whereas most other areas of service it was dark green, I wait David showing me to be wrong (again) but I do not think the German armed forces used grey fire extinguishers.
My African Tanks extinguishers are painted Desert Sand and my Barbarossa Tanks extinguishers are green.
I suppose you know that "PEDDINGHAUS" sell fire extinguisher decals, a bit of a pain to apply but really improves the look.
A big problem with colour in German equipment is simply that finding original colour photographs is very difficult so that a lot of the information is based on documentation,
And that is why, fortunately we have the likes of David to come riding to the rescue

Re: Late Tiger 1 chop shop
Those are exactly right although there is a further and different label available if you really do want to be a perfectionist?,
I have only used the left hand (BLACK) label on my extinguishers because the other label comes in very handy mounted on the inside of hatches!

The "PEDDINGHAUS" decal sheet has all three labels.
Perhaps I should add that "Archers" in the United States also do a wide range of decals in 1/16 including fire extinguishers.

Kiaser, A couple of things you might like to know reference PEDDINGHAUS,
If you do want the full fire extinguisher decal sheet it is
"DECAL SHEET 1248"
And the second thing you should know,
(Which is not too important for modellers of Armour unless you need the AFRIKA KORPS Palm tree which of course is surmounted by a "Swastika")
is that by German law they are not allowed to reproduce the "Swastika" in their decal sheets which is why when you see a peddinghaus sheet displaying the devise it is actually only half of the symbol.
I build 1/8 flying scale aircraft so it means that I get my decals for my German warbirds from a British source!

Re: Late Tiger 1 chop shop
Ive used the grey from the same range. Sprays ok, but can be a pain on some angles. Suggest sitting it on a high bar table/stool on a lazy susan(you can get a cheap wooden one from an IKEA shop) and squatting down to get the low bits while keeping the can upright.Thats the only drawback I have found.
The HOLTs car red oxide I use is designed to spray at most angles outside of upside down.
