Re: FURY just seen it
I thought the movie had it's fair share of corny too. However, I'm glad I saw it and took it for what it was meant to be, entertainment.

Re: FURY just seen it
Finally saw it, I've delayed going until my ear was good enough to hear.
Always going to be different opinions of how a movie played out but I for one am glad to have any tank movie, even a bad one, rather than no tank movie! And Fury was far more good than bad. Very entertaining and some great subtle nods and good dialogue. The breakfast scene was a great mid-movie break from the action that had a lot of meaning. It's clearly a work of fantasy but there is nothing wrong with that. The Russian movie "White Tiger" was far more fantasy and still hailed as a great tanker movie.
The Tiger really shined. The first glance with deep ominous music... chills. I could go back and see it again just for that scene.
The scene where they arrive and get their orders to take the crossroads has U.S. troops firing at nothing in particular just to make a racket, great.
I really loved the start, the German on the white horse surveying the post-battle scene like a Valkyrie. Pitt taking him down and setting the horse free really set his character up right away.
Aside from seeing the Tiger operate I loved watching all four tanks earlier crossing the field, infantry behind, all firing machine guns and cannon simultaneous. Very cool assault.

I'll reserve comment until I go see it this weekend.
However talking about movies, have people forgotten Tora Tora Tora, or a bridge too far or dam busters that show other nations in the fight for that elusive freedom.
Again just my two penneth worth, but I think in my opinion people who have never experienced the harshness of war shouldn't really comment as you have no idea how it affects the individual or group of people. And also in the face of war sometimes the proper way of doing things with command and control goes out of the window due to downright fear especially with the younger less seasoned personnel in your squadron or battalion etc.

Re: FURY just seen it
Hey Merlin
My family consists of quite a few people who have served in the forces, if I went to go and watch this film with any of those guys and listened to their experience of it, I would still expect them to listen to my opinions although I have no experience of war..everyone is entitled to there own opinions and allowed to voice them weather they be right or wrong, You cannot say the only people who can comment on a war film are people who have seen conflict, I studied film at Uni, does that mean I can't view my opinions either...

Re: FURY just seen it
Hi Jake, apologies but you have missed my point.
I was saying people shouldn't have there own opinions about the movie, I was taking about the later threads which were discussing war itself asthough they knew how people reacted etc.
That was my point that you shouldn't have an opinion about the technicalities of war if you haven't experienced it yourself.
Discussing the movie is something quite different entirely.

Not to worry Jake, completely understandable to be passionate when these short of subjects get raised and discussed in depth.
