Hi,mustclime.The Krupp turret has only a prototyp,and never made.Some modificatiions if had been built?Install a PantherF cupola?I think that front "cylinder",is a 360° view for commander.

From what I have read in PT6.3, seems that the plates were cut but never assembled....as for the para scope, look at its location on the turret. If the commander was on the scope, where did the gunner sit?

This front cylinder was for the gunner, it includes the aiming optic.

so how was the commander supose to see.......any ideas? The reason I am asking is I am starting the turret and I am looking for info.

In Panzer Tracks 6.3,you can see the same "problem" on the Maus turret.Only the 360° cylinder.But on some Maus model kit and this drawing,you can see 2 mirrors for the commander and loader:



At the drawing,the 360° cylinder is here for what?

This drawing names it "Zielfernrohr" and this means that this is the "Aiminoptik".

I would say the krupp turret should get same mirrors as on the mouse turret.

But no vision for the tank commander at all does not make sense to me even in a parked tank. The commander would have to expose him self to direct the gunner to targets. from what I have read, these tanks were planed to have 1200hp on tap with the Mybeck hl235, that would put them close to the same hp per ton as the m26.

About the mose and the E-100, they were not planed like a main battle tank, they were more planed as a heavy armored platform with a big gun to penetrate enemy front lines. But I think because these periscopes were planed for the Mous turret you can put them on the krupp turret too. Only why you can"t see it on any drawings it doesn't mean they were not come, I think the project were not far developed so these parts were not drawn. Think at the lion, beside a commander copula there is nothing drawn on the turret.
