Coming along very nicely Herman, glad you got the electrics sorted and your mojo back (all in one swift move). I'm looking forward to seeing the build accelerate now that you're past that speedbump.
Soeren wrote:Is Tamiya putty acrylic? I hit the Revell stuff and Vallejo plastic putty. The latter works with water like acrylic paints. I would like to try something like your casting marks for the panther g mantlet on the metal turret.
I think it's acrylic, but too hot to thin with water; I've always used lacquer thinners to dilute the putty (and clean up afterwards).

I used the vallejo plastic putty now. It is much easier to use than revells stuff. Although revell sands easier. Vallejo is a bit more rubbery. But once semidry you can use it like a semisoft filler for seamlines etcetera.

I just looked at the tube on the Tamiya putty & it says to thin with lacquer thinners.
However its used, the stuff works well.

More minor details.
Used a bit of brass tube to make missing mudguard hinges.
Cut the hinge sections with an old razor saw.
Cut a groove on the tank moulded hinge plates to locate the hinge tubes & used a dress making pin & gel super glue to place them.
I also used the same tube to join the redundant jack mount wingnuts to the lower arm on the rear plate.
Could be that I get tempted to make thing brass guard sections for no good reason whatsoever !!
Tomorrow night I will see about making tarp/foliage loops for the casemate.

Fake hinges? Good idea. I have to make set myself for the panthers back stowage boxes, where I glued on styrene for the lid experience. I have clasps, but no hinges were provided

These would work fine in theory if I wanted them to.
Did the rears tonight.

Yet another "WHY ?" moment..............
Making the foliage/tarp loops for the hull.
22 of them
I tried a rudimentary jig, but I buggered it in short order.
So all will be individually made.
Made from the ubiquitous dress making pins, to be super glued in position.

Will you at least put some foliage onto those? Have you ever watched the rc 1/16 matorro jt build on YouTube? It is a red primed one. Entertaining as your build.
just in case

No, never seen it !
Good watch though, certainly a huge improvement over the stock tank.
I hope I can get the primer sections of mine to look as good.
For now however, Im just plodding on with the foliage/tarp loops.
Mine are going to be a little larger than they should be to scale, but I do want to use them to hold fuse wire that I can load up with actual suitable real foliage if I want to.
