Re: MATORRO JAGDTIGER CONVERSION
Ok, now THAT has the casting vote !!
I seem to have extra armour on all my tanks apart from the PzIV so might as well have some on this !
I made them for the octopus KT but as the matorro deck is slightly different, the templates wont work.
New ones from scratch- new cardboard templates required.
Got deck lifting hooks and foliage loops on the ass and decided to use the original handles for the rear doors as they looked right.
Added a simple vent tube on the right rear.
The hooks were a pain to make & get close to consistent, but they will drill.
On that, buggers me why the KTs had long vent tubes on all 4 louvres, but the JT's did not
I think this one will be a very late version but still retain the jack on the lower rear plate, so, the track pulling cable will be coiled around the right vent, I need a grab handle above the rear door, and 'Pilzen' on the casemate roof.
Lots more foliage loops to make & fit too, along the roof and both sides of the enging deck.
I did see a period picture of a JT de-training that has a tarp perfectly fitted over the roof secured with the loops on the casemate, so I think they were fitted to keep out the elements on roof and engine deck when entrained for long distances.
Will try find the picture.
Certainly explains why they would bother with loops along the engine flanks & not have the crews try to supply & weld them on in-field.

Mr Herman that's looking really good now. What material have you used to cover the surfaces of the hull? Looks like putty (of some sort) I'd like to try that..... very nice effect

Tanks alot....

Re: MATORRO JAGDTIGER CONVERSION
Its Tamiya putty, but I did use it over a first cover of Revell compound.
On the front & rear plates to get the cast effect I used thinners and a short bristled brush to stipple the putty , on the sides I used a bag tag as a scraper to flatten out the compound & as it goes off, the action makes for shallow irregular marks like mill scale and rolled surface.
A light spot sand to reduce areas of excessive coarse texture and thats as flash as it gets.
The putty was required to blend the hull extension material in with the rest of the hull plates, so the effect was an added bonus.

Re: MATORRO JAGDTIGER CONVERSION
Is Tamiya putty acrylic? I hit the Revell stuff and Vallejo plastic putty. The latter works with water like acrylic paints. I would like to try something like your casting marks for the panther g mantlet on the metal turret.
