Just stop it Mr Barry !!
You are going to crush the spirit of those lesser beings that try to take on an Abrams now..................
Simply breathtaking work Sir, and well worthy of silent accolades we on the side lines can offer

Thank you Herman,
Your words are too kind. It is good to know that after modeling for over 55 years that I have learned something.

Outstanding

. Almost tempted to try it myself except doing the covering grated would drive me

I have a plan for the grates, what I am trying to figure is how to notch all 12 pieces for each grate with the 5 - 7 notches needed for the vertical "tie bars". They need to be notched together (same time) to ensure that they align properly. The notches need to be around .020" x .020" for a .020" brass rod. I though about .030" for strength but believe they will look too large. I am trying to keep things as close to what I "believe" to be scale sizes. I will be using .015" x x.060" brass flat bar for the individual grate slats.
I used silver solder for strength on the exhaust deflectors and was planning the same for the grates. I am planning on using a high tin content, lower melting point solder for attaching them. We will see

Whenever I have tried soldering small pieces together so close to each other it seems I always miss putting a heat sink somewhere and end up with something already finished coming apart

. If I were to try it I'd try to have all the parts in position and then heat the whole thing up enough to flow solder over it all at once much like reflowing a older circuit board. You are obviously a grand master at this type of soldering and I am really looking forward to seeing your grates as they progress.
