I never really liked the short barreled Stug's but following this build has got me wanting one. Maybe I should start my TD line.

Woz,
I hear you! This has been a challenging build but the Fun has been there in equal measure too, I am happy to report. I'm hunting up research on tank destroyers and have a 1/15 resin kit to build a later (static) StuG. I plan on using running gear from Bandai to make it a little more fun to do. ;o) After that, a Sturmtiger and eventually, an Elefant.
regards,
Painless

Took some time this evening to do a little more of the detail work. I found a home for the MG34 and Box O' Goodies and placed them using the 3M removable clear DS Tape. After that, I prepped and mounted the side grab handles up front. A little brass stock and using the Mark One eyeball, saw the rear casemate handles in place. Running short on time, I bent up some quick clip mounts out of flat brass and put the Commander's MP 40 in place in his hatch. It is not quite in the right place but needs must on RC tanks sometimes. A touch of paint to finish and some more detailing for tomorrow night. Pictures:

Ed,
*chuckles* I'll bear that in mind. ;o) I've been painting up a resin radio set the last evening and today and will have that assembled and mounted here by the weekend. After that, it's just paint for the Commander and Crewman figures, markings and weathering and the build will be done.

Painless

Just a quick 'Shout Out' for Archer Fine Transfers! I've been in communication with them the last couple of days via email. I should be able to get the markings for the StuG made up in 1/16 scale from their 1/35 AR35249 sheet. It's a match for the Tamiya decals I used on the research StuG. ;o) These are some great folks to work with. Stateside based too.

Painless

I spent a few quiet hours yesterday completing and painting the extra radio set for the StuG. ( Apparently the commander has picked up, appropriated, plain and outright pilfered a more powerful set for his vehicle. Communication is key on the vast Russian steppes! ) Assembly was fiddly but fun. The base aerial is supposed to sit loose. To maintain that appearance, I drilled it and the top of the set and used another piece of drill bit so it can be twisted into place without using glue. Sort of like a thin screw. ;o) All that is left now is to paint and mount a couple of scopes and paint the figures. Pictures:

P.S. I will be unable to use the Archer transfers for this build. A one off, four color print was far too expensive for my dusty wallet. I have ideas tho'. I believe that what I want can be cobbled together from a couple of other sets from Peddinghaus.
