How about this Alpha. Not exactly M1A2 but I think this M1A1 will have similar loader's hatch configuration.

Hey DNAR...thanks much

....couldn't find a shot like that...you can just see the red of the iridium shade

...did it up right..except mine is a little more forward...beh...no biggies ...now on to the insignias

PS. What's interesting is the profile of the command hatch looks like the type ATC is supposed to have on his ABRAMs ...isn't that the cupola for the auto gun?

Never Mind DNAR...Think I found the answer
This does look like the older model..no rotation ring for the machine gun...and less view ports
With that said...it does look like the cupola rotates

Yes, that is the old style Commander's Stabilized Weapons Station. The whole thing rotates. Stabilized because the .50-cal is on a stabilized mount that can also be fired (with the addition of some stuff) "remotely," i.e., under armour from inside, or in open-protected position, i.e. with the hatch covering the TC's head who will be semi-inside. To backdate the HL M1A2 to an M1A1, this will be the major modification to be done.

Good pic for anyone who has the HE Abrams and wants to detail the TC copula. Even then it would take quite a bit of work.

Normal people like me and Giant would take a week to do it...it would probably take you only a half hour

....but yeah...it doesn't look that complicated straight out...but after taking a good look...there a lot of tiny bits that make up that gun support..not to mention you have to remove the entire outer ring ...reconfigure the lenses...and make two or four lift rings

Don't get one Jake!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....It'll set off a chain reaction...as you will want to get another
Right now...I'm almost too antsy for the Challenger...after this one...it just gives you a different "feel" than working on older tanks ...wouldn't be able to explain it...but man it's just different
Thanks for the kind words Buddy ...nice to know all is well with you

Hey Giant...did you notice the loader's hatch DNAR posted?....The odd thing is when you search for M1 ABRAMS CUPOLA...that image pops up almost everytime now...I can't tell you how many times I used that search before...and that one never came up
