thanks for your nice comment, I hope you would also enjoy the coming reports.
If you have some question about this, please don't shy and ask me.
Have a nice weekend!
Killer pant work, much better than I can do.....A question....the tail pipe armor, your parts seem to have several different peaces to them. It is my understanding that these were one peace cast parts on the king tiger, were there multi peace armor for these on the early king tigers?

Hi mustclime,

I will gladly answer your question, but before we talk past each other a question, what do you mean exactly with tail pipe and tail pipe armor? ???

hi Hotte,

i think he is referring to the exhausts pipes (and their armour), if i'm not mistaken, yours are not originals, but selfmade by you...

ah! and thank you very much for your offer, you can bet that i will ask a lot! ;D

best regards

Yea, the armor at the base of the exhausts pipes, I thought they were solid cast iron peaces, yours like like a unit that is made of many peaces.....here is the pic I am talking about...

Image

Is this something your kit came with or is there a different armor for the exhaust I do not know of?...

here is a closeup of the kt that was in the patton display...

that is a late 44 tank though.

Hello mustclime,

you're right, the armor on the exhaust looks a bit different than the original. :silent: But that's original Torro and has not been altered by me. I have only changed the exhaust pipes, was to see in the report too. The armor plating on the exhaust is indeed one piece but has a way of plate on the back. The grooves on the lifting eyes are visible on some King Tigers also ...

But that's in the modelling, you can buy a model and change the things that are really wrong or do not like, certainly not all - so I did not.
No manufacturer is flawless, also at Tamiya models can be improved much more, I realize that even at my Panther type G. This is always a question of model loyalty, effort and personal taste.
And finally a picture of the rear view of a Porsche King Tiger, in those days certainly much has been tried ...

Hi Scott,
I've seen already the report about the E-100, I think it was a crazy german tank project. Overtrump only by the tank Maus. Your problem will be the tracks for this tank, madly big and width and probably nowhere to buy. I'm curious, how do you resolve this problem.
And Scott, I don't believe that your skill are so bad, how you maybe think...
A nice weekend for ya

PVC solvent/glue works on the hl/tamiya tracks, I am using piano wire for the track pins, If you crimp one end with a visegrip, they are just like the stock ones ...If you cut the track at the teeth holes, you get 60mm wide tracks, I am glueing the extra track teeth on the out sides of the tracks to act as the "duckbills" of the e100 tracks( this give me 63mm wide tracks). When I make some progress, I will start a build thread......you know what I am not looing forward to? The wheels, making the white wheels in this pic look like what is in the background.....

Image

I am going to be drilling hundreds of holes and mounting hundreds of bolts.....going to take forever to mak 8 inside and 8 outside wheels.....

Hi Scott,

so you are not a rivet counter, but a drill hole counter... :)

hallo Hotte,

finally my bigcat has arrived ;D

i've a quick question to you (on anyone else who owns a Torro KöTi metal edition):

is normal that the entire gun barrel could turn in his axis (as if you were screwing it), except for the gunshield/mantlet?

best regards and thank you very much
