E-100 Projekt
Re: E-100 Projekt
hello
i would use uhu plast, it works the best with polysterol and the HL plastik, but i haven t used it direct with the plastik of the tracks but it should work.

Hi,
sorry for not reading all the tread I just look at the pics and read the last part.
You can make 3D model of your track and then mill it out form nylon (white nylon can be dyed with RIT dye) or aluminium (Al 7075 T6 is the good stuff). For the pin holes I suggest making a vice like positioning tool for drill pres so you just put the track in and drill.
Another option is to use 3D model and make a mold for it and cast the track eider from some kind of liquid plastic, polyester, epoxy or metal (Al has low melting point).
Or make silicone/rubber mold from your existing piece and then use that for "cold" casting.
Do you sell this tanks too?

hi Kennenb
jes, the e-100 is one of my kits i have in stock, at the moment i have done some redesingings of the hull so at the moment im doing some prototyps.
about drilling a track link, thats not so easy, if you want to drill it you need to made it in 3-4 parts for each link. sadly i only can cut out 2,5D
.
about the molding, thats of corse a option but you need alot experince in it that thay looks good and that the material is strong enough for a RC model. and the other point is that you still need over 600 parts thats alot of work.

Re: E-100 Projekt
Couldn't you make whole track one big piece and then find long drill bit? That would be very time consuming but if you own CNC, time is not that important.
Or you could make track from 3 pieces, the first one is the whole track + 2 guide fins and then simply screw them in place.
Well lead casting in steel mold is quite easy once you get some practice (talking from experiences), I guess Al shouldn't be that hard eider.
I can't say YET how well the nylon will hold on a track, but in few week we will know, my project is almost ready and motors are overkill, so if the track holds to my use... lets just say it will hold to your abuse too
Can you please give me your opinion on my project, maybe you will see something I missed: http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... =23&t=9426

Hi, have you read through this thread?
http://www.rc-panzerketten-forum.com/wb ... adid=22755
This guys modeling is way over my head and the tools he has make my small workshop look very, very sad. I am buying one of the e100 kits that is set up to use heng long king tiger parts as a base. I am just looking at ways to make the hl king tiger tracks look close to the e100's....cutting 10mm from a doner track and glueing it to another track link gets me 60mm tracks....If I want the look of the "duckbills" on the edges of the tracks, I can cut the teeth off from the waste track links and glue them to the ends on the out side....the king tiger tracks are off center where the e100 tracks are centered. If I was to use the "real e100 design tracks, all of the heng long spacing would have to be changed and that can be as much work as making 600 track links. I am not sure The duckbills will show that well as I am planing on building the tank with the fender armor. Tonight I am picking up some MEK to try as a glue for the tracks and I am ordering 4 sets of king tiger tracks.......
FYI I looked into a couple jewelery casting compenies just for the heck of it....they want about $1000 US to make the mold and about $800 US to make enough peaces to make 600 links...with extra cost for repair if the mold is damaged douring the casting process...I would need the supply blanks for the mold......this would be done in beercan al.....And i would still be cleaning and putting togather these 600 links.......
