Nice looking Kubel you have there

I bought one of these balloon tyre models with an eye to making it RC but the thing is so d*mn fragile that bits fall off as soon as I look at it. The mods had already been started but there's so much broken now I think it would be quicker to start again with a new kit :/

Hi Adrian, sure it can be fixed / sorted , thanks for your comments . I'm using the new Kubelwagen on all fronts book as a reference. This was recommended to me and its fantastic. I wanted to get rid of the balloon tyres but there growing on me . I do have the standard European version to but that's on the to do pile. The DAK were the first German units to use the Kubelwagen so most are the early versions . This is what I'm making my one.

I have re done the shovel mount and made a sort of working clamp . Not exactly the same as the original . I am going to make a wooden handle for the shovel.

Here is a overall shot and the now filled jack hole as the early Kubels used a scissor jack apposed to the insert able one , which the holes for.

I have done some detail on the front now .

Image

Image
The early Kubels had a chain in a rubber sleeve . This is exactly what I have done only I slid a piece of wire into to create the bend. I think the height might be incorrect ?

Image
I have added the locking arm and missing bolts to the Notek light.

This is the early style wiper cable.

I have also improved the shovel mount and made it more accurate . I have now filled the rear recess of the shovel as in all the pictures of Kubels I have seen only one had this type of shovel.
