I am curious if the gearbox calculator will provide the best combination for real scale speed? Certainly the manufacturer has not considered this in the gearbox that comes installed? Which ratio box is provided?

I don't know why people are complaining, it's aimed at the huge Chinese toy market where it will sell like hot cakes, a good desision for HL, us Brits are clamouring for a challenger 2 and that's been produced in far smaller numbers and only exported to Oman?

Hi all, just a word with regard to mods for the ZTZ 99.
The heng long version is an early model and the actual tank has been upgraded several times.
The latest versions have reactive armour on the hull and modular armour on the turret.

Update I fitted the Graupner speed 400 6v in the standard HL gearbox and works perfect. On full battery it cover 5m in 5 seconds so full size speed of about 35mph compared to 37mph off road for the real thing.Tankbear wrote:SLU is like ElMod so replaces the rx18. plus SLU comes complete with Tamiya IR battle system.
Not certain if the speed 400 6v are strong enough. I've a pair in my Tiger with 4:1 gearbox and although fast when i've calculated speed motors only appear to be 12000 installed not the rated 18000.
Some people run 480 motors with fan cooled rx18 so that might be a better option.
