Can't wait.

Okely dokey , first the quickie - clocking the overly soft suspension , noting the springs are left and right handed , so i did one side at a time .
- First remove the wheel , popping the centre cap off reveals the crosshead retaining screw .
- Then the axle , 3mm Allen key .
Be careful not to lose the small thrust washer , the spring is moved moved 90 degrees .
. . . now the hull won't drag on the ground

The return roller thang . . .
Using a small screwdriver i began to press the axles out , followed by a good tug .
. . . Phew . Now the easy bit . . .
. . . Remove the outer . . .
. . . and saw off the inner boss .
. . . A 3mm hole was drilled 3.5mm below the old one and using the drill shank as a guide , the bits get glued back on in reverse order .

. . with rollers and tracks back on back in , you can sit back to enjoy the fruit of your labours
a straight line between the idler and last roller , with the sprocket a tad lower , which is how they look in photo's of the real thing .

. . . AND NOW . . .

Alright TB , just teasing . . .
Looking from the rear edge -

. . Notice how the holes no longer line up , so they were plugged with plastic rod and to prevent them cracking i glued extra rings of plastic around them , these were made from the large hull attachment standoffs nicked from my original broken hull but an old biro or even lengths of aerial tubing will do. new locating pins were also added using the old ones as a guide .
In place

. . . With gearboxes .
. . At least 8mm clearance - plenty of space

, It's - manifold time ! . .
. . . almost . As the RX 18 will be getting a fan and probably some sort of ducting from the air inlet vents , it's time to move the furniture about

. . . The turret motor can go up front for a start .
- Eeek , Din dins ! ( Ah'll be back later folks, but don't hold your breath , now TB , it makes you go blue . . .
. . .)

The speaker , minus it's box goes neatly under the engine cover . . .

. . . andI found the smoker will fit ! - sideways

. . . Although the chamber has to be altered some . . .

The feed and filler ports back on top , thank crunchy for superglue , nothing else worked

. It still needs the wiring loom sorting out and a 'Y' to go to the exhausts along with a QD connector for the unit .
- . . . Time for some access .

I managed to snaffle more hatches

- the last ones available it seems ! Sorry everyone

The large 'washer is glued to the underside , then a .5mm (.020") thick ring goes into the top , the raised inner rim was added from strip giving the right depth for the hatches.
. . . Which meant more hinges . . .

Enough for today methinks , thanks for looking . B .

Awesome work, man after my own heart using bits of other things to make other things!
....and a word juggler, inventing words to vent frustration.
One thing I've never got to grips with or even know how do you cut out those circles in plastic card?
A stab in the dark, can you find it in an old compass set?
Ta very much

Hi Phil , a juggler eh ? - i've get called lots of things but not that . Lol
For cutting circles , radii whatever , i use these .

. . . The Olfa cutter is the 'original' type from a model shop , the other one i found on a market stall , they cost about a fiver (or less - i think i got one in po*ndland ) and come with extra blades + leads included .

Thank you for the pictures and info.
Bit cheaper than my 4 million pound laser and dinner plate idea!
