here is the TBU re-assembled and back on the tank, the colour is not an exact match because I do not know what brand of paint Glyn used

Just in case it is of use to you in any future work on the Tiger, the main colour is Tamiya F60 but the whole tank is very lightly oversprayed with black to make it look dirty

Martin, as far as I know it is a original Tamiya kit part

Can somebody explain why this German tank has what appears to be a Japanese (or Chinese) character painted on the right front hull?

sandy if you mean the marking I have circled, it is as far as I know the unit marking for PzReg2, Russia 1943

its the chinese sign for luck , it was used on das reigh tiger 1 ,tank no S33 , it was painted on upside down on the front and both sides , not to sure why it was applied upside down ,some say it was to say your lucks just ran out
