Got lucky at my (not at all) local hobby store last weekend, and found some brass tube to make a recoil mount from

Re: My First Tamiya!
Latest Progress:
Made a brass arm for the elevation, needs a little more tweaking to get full depression (longer slot) but otherwise works ok.

Brass strip makes the recoil linkage. A simple steel pin holds the barrel in place, the holder tube will keep it in place once its all installed.

Also got the mg LED and TBU/IR LED installed.

Next up is fixing the turret rotation - its pretty pathetic to say the least, even after stripping the gearbox and swapping the slipper gear around

Good job on the Sherman Mart,Blake
Re: My First Tamiya!
Hi Mart,
Your Sherman Easy 8 with the T-23 Turret, 76mm gun build is looking good. I like your rear exhaust vent solution and the OD paint colors look spot on.
Post more photos too, when it is completed. Cool workmanship and happy to see you joined the Tamiya side of the puzzle.

Re: My First Tamiya!
Hi John,
Its almost there, the turret rotation is causing me grief as the thicker resin turret holds the turret ring gear so high that its at the point of disengaging the rollers - some shims between the metal brace and the plastic ring gear will cure that hopefully. Once I fix that its on to the battlefield!
I have a suitable subject picked out:

Re: My First Tamiya!
I used two washers on each side between the gear ring and metal brace mount to lower the ring into position to better engage the turret rotation unit gear; works good (for washer size reference Tamiya Washer Part MA6 on page 15 of the Sherman Instructions).
