Time to start putting it all back together. Despite the notes I made, it took it a few goes to get everything back where it started.

Image

That included squeezing the MFU and wiring back under the bonnet.

Image

I masked and painted the headlights as seen in the movie if not in real life. I also weathered the radiator so it’s not such a glossy black behind the grille.

Image

I added the radiator condenser from the AFV Modeller products and made one of only a few changes to the standard Trasped model – a hand crank hole in the bumper bar. I also did some extra weathering with North Africa dust pigment.

I got some sand tracks also from AFV Modeller. Unfortunately, the resin is so thin, they warp easily. I added some brass rod at the back to try to stiffen them.

Good Morning!
Having spent Time and Dough recreating a couple of AFVs from my favorite Armor novel, I really appreciate the work that you have done here bringing the 'Play Dirty' Jeep out of the Movie and on to your Desk! I'm going to find time to sit down and watch the movie here soon. There will be an added layer of enjoyment knowing that the Jeep has been recreated in scale and is on the Forum!
regards,
Painless

Estnische!
I know what you are talking about! Now on the other end of the Spectrum, I wonder if anyone on the Forum has built the T55 Out of 'Beast'?

Painless

The MGs needed to be added next. The MG34 and its mounting post are the same as that I used on my truck build.

Image

I could not get a clear shot of the rear mounted Vickers mounting point - it is probably the standard Vickers field tripod. I ignored it and utilised the Trasped 50 cal mount.

Image

To buy a Vickers was not going to be cheap, so I built my own from various pieces, including the Takom 50 cal somewhat shortened and some pen body pieces. Historic armourers look away now! I used a few old drawings for rough measurements so that it has the right look about it. But there are several features incorrect such as the flash suppressor, and the mount/water tank is fictional.
