I had already removed the extra antenna tube when I got the tank but it's always good to document things so-

Then I wet sanded first with 180 grit then 400 grit. Rinsed it off and doused it with 50/50 Simple Green and went at it with a Green Restaurant Scotch Brite Pot Scubber-



For whatever reason the person who installed the headlight and hull MG must have been huffing the glue because it was a bear and a half to remove the 2 simple items.



Removing this brass fitting for the light was a lot easier when I decided to turn the hull upside down and tap it out with a pin punch and hammer.



Other nifty ECA stuff that John sent me over a year ago were these mounts for the headlights-


I'm undecided which tool set I'm going to use but after looking at some references I placed the items according to the period pictures and mocked up the ring and the cables again to see how it all fits or doesn't-



But after looking at the pictures closer, the ax faces the other direction but I haven't checked if I have one that faces the other way around.

Looks like the King Tiger tools will work-

Im sure you will have a similar unit /brand up there but I cant do without this thing in the building factory.
The triangle shaped head gets into every nook and makes removing unwanted stuff easy.
Noisy but fast & effective

It would be more tolerable if it didn't come with some really bad weathering. I was bored with it and didn't have time to do anything so you can see the haze on the turret especially where I used a tan filter to make it less garish.

I didn't know what I was doing when I first got my Mid (first tank) and turned a nice Taigen paint job into black oil wash hell. But I am very happy with the 3rd version which I turned back into a Italy campaign command mid tiger 1. Somewhere I can feel meter rat's hackles already getting up with this Tiger talk

Pluggin holes.

Late Mantlet adjusted for the single telescopic site. I used Green Stuff 2 part epoxy. My choice for nice working time and allows for molding and blending.



Styrene and CA glue. Clipped and trimmed a bit of sprue to plug the round hole.



Anybody use a CA glue curing Accelerator? Commonly called a "kicker" before? Really cool stuff. Apply the CA glue then mist the kicker in/near the CA glue to cure and Voila. It's instantly cured. I'm a big fan of BSI CA glues and products btw.



I had a bit of green stuff left over so I plugged the square hole and the spot where the shovel mold was.

Oh that thing looks awesome. I'm working with a Dremel style rotary tool with a barrel sander or cone and Yep you're right some spots I just have a really hard time getting to. Man I'll definitely be looking for something like that at my local Harbor Freight. Thanks Mr. B
