Looking good Ed
The Wheels might be stuck on with paint, they are a tight fit, but they do come off. But you need to support the model well.
Tyres are a faff, but tight to stop them rotating in respect to the hub. Sorry deliberately made tight.

Have to say, the truck is looking really good in that colour, cant's wait to see finished pictures. The truck works really nicely with those axles and power setup, on 2s lipo you can run it for ages on a single charge. Think it will run 45mins on a 1500mah 2s which is pretty darn good.
Have fun and enjoy the process, be good to see a line up of the various models matey

I have a busy day or two ahead, but should be able to get to the wheels on Make Modeling Mediocre Again Tuesday. I have no big problem brush painting the wheels; I have done so often with models.

Slow, slow progress (although with multiple projects underway simultaneously). Soon a kind fellow RCTW-er may be able to help me with headlights and a few other printed goodies. The truck runs fine. I find it interesting and fortunate that the truck runs forward rather slowly and backward even more so. I did not set these speeds intentionally: they just happened as I set up the FlySky FS6iX. I have fiddled and tried and fiddled more with the transmitter settings, but to no avail. Nonetheless, I am quite happy with the speeds as they are.

I use Taigen / Heng Long Metal T34 Headlights - they need a little surgery to work, but perfectly servicable

It's looking amazing!
Do you plan to put the canvas on the bed to hide the battery? I think that's what I will do on mine (that would be easier to hide small Lipos, but I don't want to use them).
I hope I don't delay your progress too much!
I'll them as soon as the temperatures are warmer!

Hello professor,

That's a beautiful truck and one I know that you have been wishing on for a while, I've rigged a picture up of yours above mine ( mostly scratch built ) to maybe give you some idea of the direction that I took while making it.
If you wish to leave the cargo bed uncovered you could always make a couple of false hollow crates to hide various items such as a smallish lipo, sound module and speaker etc, that's the route I took with mine.
I'm sure you'll do a fine job whatever your plans are for it but as always if you need any help please don't hesitate to ask

Cheers, Lee

Tiger 6: "I use Taigen / Heng Long Metal T34 Headlights." Some weeks ago I checked five or six sellers on these T35 headlights. I could find nothing that looked even close to the backwards-bullet shaped CCKW headlights. Am I missing something? Do you have a URL?

MonsieurTox: Don't worry: I am patient and have so many projects to keep me busy. I am actually happy and grateful that you are helping me.

Model Builder 4: Yes, this CCKW and the RC Jeep by Will and Catherine have been favorites of mine. I would like to have more, but I have financial limits that I have stretched and strained for decades because of my hobbies. Will did print a crate: the one you can see unpainted in the bed of my CCKW above. I can also make some crates out of scale wood. But most of all, I would like to come up with the bows and tarp for the bed of the truck. That's my image of a CCKW. Then, too, do you have a link to the driver and passenger in yours? I enjoy painting the figures.

Hello professor,

The figures actually come already painted, they are 1/18 scale and are by American Diorama.
The size fits well with the truck though, just put 'American diorama soldier figure ' into any search engine and you'll get lots of results, you can get a set of four as shown in the picture but they also sell them individually, hope this helps Image

Cheers, Lee.

Model Builder 4, I have those 1/18 figures from when American Diorama first produced them. I even bought a set and a 1/18 Jeep for a friend. Geepers: I should have immediately recognized them. Am I becoming senile?
