At risk of derailment, sometimes "Tamiya protocol" is over used to look down on those that dont have one.
The newer H/L set ups are to a degree compatible, but not the same. Perhaps those with the Tamiya battle system should appreciate the willingness and enthusiasm of those that build, paint and travel to a gathering before stomping on the electronic capabilities............. seen it, lived it, rejected it and went anyway, and made them regret that position.

Since that was directed at me let me explain the point I was making that the Taigen Stug I posted being available to the OP not having the Taigen IR battle system shouldn't be a dealbreaker as it is inferior to the HL system which obviously is the one most people are using. The option of buying the airsoft and putting in the base Clark so the OP could battle HL or Tamiya was just trying to be helpful

I don't believe this is a thing anymore, certainly not in the last 10 years. I do not know anyone in a club who would sneer at somebody who turned up with a Heng Long tank hoping to run it - we are just happy to see people turn up!

The type of individual who does want to make it a "my tank is better than your tank" thing are not in clubs, precisely because they are the kind of :poop: who other people do not want to be around. In that instance, their opinion is totally irrelevant and should be ignored...

I just used Tamiya protocol as I thought that was the term and also what our club uses for official battles. By far the majority of the tanks in our club are HL or Taigen we just use the Tamiya system for consistency. If anything I would describe it more as a Clark board club. Lots of unconverted HL etc tanks driving around the club field. With my lack of modelling skills I would be the last person denigrating anyone else's models. Now I see the post that triggered the response it was just me laughing how one simple airsoft tank I purchased led me down this path. Sorry if it was perceived otherwise. Oh and to drag it back on track I'm thinking I might grab one of those airsoft Stugs with schurzen Taigens myself now I 've found that rctank has them

Panzermechaniker: I was pleased to see those Taigen tanks with the Schürzen. I have one from some time ago in a different camouflage scheme. I am eager to get to it, but got buried in the FAMO build and am having fun with the T26E3 Pershing. It's unfortunate that I am so far from any club, as I would find it interesting to learn about Clark boards "up close and personal." RCTW members gave me great help with the Clark board and electronic in general, such that I could get the Mato M10 functioning reasonably well (actually the MFU was the least of the problems). Nonetheless, I keep getting slivers under my fingernails.

I would love to build a FAMO but as I stated before I have minimal skills when it comes to constructing anything above a Tamiya. I can't solder, cant scratch build etc. don't use an airbrush so I'm glad the OP started this Stug thread because I would never have seen those Taigens that Dominique is selling

I couldn't scratch build when I started out either, but I just started doing it. Some failures...some success. Your skills will get better with time.

Always helpful to have a place to learn those skills, though! As for myself, I learn best with direct communication with someone who has those skills or a written tutorial. Videos don’t work well with my processing issues.

No mate, it was certainly not aimed at you.
Rather a generalisation of some(some) attitudes that I agree in principle from the old days of other brands V's the Tamiya system were valid, but seem to have prevailed over time to manifest resentment today.
I have lived it.
Lesser folks may have been put off, but not me. Thats a character thing and a shame as its not necessary.
