Now that the Christmas season is over, and the in laws, and other family have all gone, it was time to take stock of this build. Firstly I need to find some books on the T72. Secondly brace yourselves for questions. Stripped some more off the lower hull. Hum, small amount of warping. Not overly bothered, as I want to use magnets to hold the upper on, I will build a frame for it and bond it in.
As I do not like screws into plastic the track adjusters will be drilled out and stainless nuts and bolts will be used.
Next the battery box was removed, with the old switch position removed from the floor. I just need to decide where to put it. The original position on the rear bulwark is also not ideal.

I see Torro's sticker on the bottom of the hull. I know that Torro has started selling HengLong tanks, too, apparently with their own sticker added. Is that right? And in the photo, do you already have the track tension adjusters changed out? Part looks to be metal.

I seems to be Heng Long with a Torro sticker put on it. Track tensioners are metal, but screwed into plastic, which has stripped on one side, hence using nuts and bolts as I progress.

BTW, if you use the external tanks on the back of the tank they pretty much hide the on/off switch. To counter using the external fuel tanks, I've ripped them off on several occasions while traversing ditches in my T72 as I never glued them on.

I've used the adjustable idler from Henntec and the one Stanlley sells from RC Tank Legion. Both have worked well.

Small amount of work, and because I am trying to get an hour a night, and before departure and isolation to the kitchen to cook fish pie.
Inspired by Mr Imcq11, I dismantled the the old air gun thing and cut off the bottom.
I then filed and cleaned it all up, which gave me a sliding mechanism with a piece of plastic tube attached.
This was a tight fit (an excellent band from the 1980’s ) over the original aluminium tube of the gun as I like to be able to remove the gun barrel if required
As I intend to attempt using Mr Tankalot’s method of creating a gun cover using an old umbrella cover, two discs were cut. One was attached to the existing frame cover, and gently cleaned up so everything slide smoothly. The second disc will be attached after the cover has been attached. I noticed on a frontal photograph the the cover was clamped between what appears to be the two discs. Six small hex shaped plastic rod will be cut and added later to represent the bolts.
Finally, borrowing again from Mr Imcq11, a servo was glued to the side and a piece of rod was bent to the correct length and fitted between the servo arm and the sliding part.
The last thing to do was to test the whole recoil with the gun attached. This needs a little bit of finessing to give a smooth action. It also need some proper servo arms with ball joints.
I now have two methods of giving a recoil to models thanks to the good folk on this site. Even though one cannot be done according to some folk over on FB.

I'm not sure if you've seen this website before but it has a massive collection of armour books you can download. Here are a couple I've downloaded for my T-72 and there are a couple more, too! The site seems safe, at least my cousin who's being held by the Mexican Police until I send them $500 in Amazon gift cards for "bail", says so!

This is a most righteous thread since there's a T-72 waiting in the assembly line here, and it's dying for some recoil!
