WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
Re: WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
You've certainly got that mottled diffused camo down there Mr. Bix.

Love the idea. The Germans were trying all sorts of ideas if memory serves they had a towed V2 launcher on a submarine for launching so this isn’t that far fetched
I lost it in a move but at one point I removed the wings from Bronco’s manned V-1 and added three wheels to make a war surplus land speed salt flats racer

Re: WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
Back onto this thing again!!
Dug it out of the box & now its all on to get it finished.
I do need to do a lot of cutting & shutting but it should be a novel model once done and put in tandem with the Panther Radar vehicle.
Certainly going to make use of a lot of spare/surplus bits that a body seems to accumulate along the path to modeling tanks- addiction !
I have roughed out the front plate & now can move onto carving the ole Pantiger upper hull plate up to make use of the turret ring and rotation unit mountings.
The rest will be styrene sheet!

Re: WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
Cheers for looking in Mr Ecam, so was I !!
Taking a predictable form following the lines of the lower hull is pretty unavoidable but I am toying with the idea of putting on a bulged area in around the slew radius of the launcher. Overall the low weight of the chassis could mean I need to either ballast it, or add metal gearboxes and tracks which kind of defeats the purpose of a fill in build
Be a shame to have it so top-heavy it wants to fall over!

Re: WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
Oh It'll be cheap whatever it is I can assure you !!
Santa has had his financial pants yanked down & a stray finger shoved into the proverbial cash-clacker
I've dived into the boxes of leftovers to find bits that I can use to decorate the hull that have absolutely no relevance to a real scenario and is actually genuine fun!
Not analysing engine heat & cooling constraints, armour considerations, all the stuff that makes an AFV tick and be anything like historic or accurate is liberating !!
This thing only needs to be remotely plausible to make me happy to have done it
Made use of the left over resin engine vents from the Jagdpanzer IV to keep the deck flat, and plan to use a few other familiar bits to add features.
I'm actually pretty stoked to have used a much maligned Pantiger deck to cover the upper hull !!
Plus I kept the vents & grills for future use, just in case
Loads of rough spots to make good but the idea is sound

Re: WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
Some of the stuff we come up with as modeller's, but if some of the boffins of the day came up with some of these things could you imagine what differences these could have made to the war
It’s your tank it’s what you make it
