Although it has been a bit over a month since I last posted, I am still slowly working at this build. I have been working on a box for the speaker, and even if such a construction is easy-breezy for many here on RCTW, it's a challenge for me. Even if my home-made box for the speaker is a failure, I will be able to finish it as a large 1/16 crate, so no loss.
QUESTIONS: I am also vacillating on the location for the various electronic components. I understand the TCB should not be too close to the motors. Is it OK to put the receiver close to the TCB? Should the battery be kept away from any other electronic components?

Let me know if you need a custom speaker box made to size, we have made loads and shipped globally for custom builds. They seem to be quite popular
As for being close to motors it will be due to interference. You can suppress the motors by running diode bridge across the terminals
The receiver should be ok with being close to motors and tcb if suppressed
Battery I always put in a place its easily accessed and removed external to the model as I'm usually working with lipo.

A picture says more than a thousand words:

The speaker is a FRWS 5 with 8 Ohm and fit perfect behind the radiator grille.
The battery is also fit in the engine compartment.
I use a OpenPanzer TCB and that is mounted in the chassis:

There is a space under the seat bench in the driver's cab, there I mounted the two brushless esc.

Looks a neat install. Good space for components, looks good from here.
If it were me I would be weather proofing the electronics in the chassis
Very well done

Looking forward to seeing the pictures amd video once it's done and ready to move

Herr Hamm! My gratitude again! I had not thought of putting the speaker in the engine bay behind the grill. The steering servo may be in the way, but tonight I should have a little time to see what can be arranged. You have the TCB in exactly the same spot I have planned. I am hoping still to fit the winch behind it.
