Well, since having to drive back and fourth to work I have less time to dedicate to getting my degree than I had before. At the end of this month, my dreams of my BS will be put on hold. My contract at Veteran's Affairs ends in September of this year also so I want to hang onto as much cash as I can at the moment to ensure I have enough in savings to sustain me if the contract bid isn't won or I need to find a new position. I've been putting out resumes as a back up plan and looking for work even though I'm still working. I do have plenty of projects to work on and don't have to spend any money to do that really. I have a bunch of parts already stockpiled for certain builds. I figure if I stop making extra payments on my car and house, I could survive at least 8-10 months on my savings so I'm good to go. I might even qualify for unemployment benefits and if I do, my savings could be stretched even further. I still have some time though and the new contractor might also pick up some of folks from the outgoing contract or my employer could have another slot on another contract. I guess we shall see.Herr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 7:49 pm "I'm doing a BS in Cybersecurity." How is all that BS going?![]()
I do like the light weathering you accomplished: I tend toward somewhat lighter weathering, influenced by a world-wide award winning modeler who, years ago, took me on a hobby store jaunt around the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. Geepers, I'd like to go back.

Hi Tankme. Im sure l knew you by name rather than title but its been a few years now. I cant believe youve only just finished your T34/76! It was with your help l completed mine a few years ago, and my SU85. Flanged wheel bearings and a quality pillar drill made this model kit wheels a reliable substitute for the RTR ones.
Good to hear you are planning to get busy again. Ill he watching

I have WAY too many "projects"...getting two tanks (PZ3 and T49) painted in a week is completely unheard of for me. The T34/76 was sitting painted with all it's decals and panel lining for like 2 months before I finally put a clear coat on it. It just be that way sometimes... Now with all the 3D printing of tanks I do, it's hard to concentrate on finishing tanks...BUT the PZ3 and T49 are very close to done. The decals arrived for the T49 so that one will be back on the bench for finishing work (after I move the Matilda out of the way).General Jumbo01 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 10:30 am Hi Tankme. And its all your doing! Great to see the forum is still strong. I need to get to grips with the latest miniature tank electronics, small units that support sound, elevation and recoil, flash and smoke for use in 1/76 scale models (a big rail gun).HERMAN BIX wrote:Mr Jumbo ??!!!General Jumbo01 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 10:30 am Hi Tankme. A beautiful result, Derek. The Mickey Mouse-style hexagonal turrets make for such a good-looking tank, and your work with the camouflage and markings is spot-on. I think you did a great job knocking down the decals, they look as good as stencils!

Welcome back, General! It's great to see you here again. A few years ago you suggested I start making and selling conversion kits, and I'm currently gearing up to do just that. If all goes to plan, I should be ready offer printed pre-war T-34/76s like this soon if you're in the mood for more Soviet projects!General Jumbo01 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 12:17 pm In two weeks time l get my workshop (conservatory) back so l need a new tank project too. Hi, of all the Russian tanks Ive done, Ive yet to build my favorite, the IS3. Are there any good models out there at the moment?Raminator wrote:A beautiful result, Derek. Re: Trumpeter/Taigen T34/76 Mod 1942 with Applique Armor
Thanks. The slogan is a stencil of the decal along with all the numbers except the ones on the back of the turret. With the bar already in place I didn't want to hassle with trying to get a stencil on there and went with the decals. Amazing what little magic grime will do when just stippled on and wiped off.

Sadly...no. There was an IS-3 on Cults for printing, but the author took it down to redesign it. He has been here on the forum, but when I went to find his thread I had a hard time finding it since the search engine hates dashes and short words. I think his plan was to sell the IS-3 as a kit. We've been trying to get Inkor to do one as a 3D print, but hasn't agreed to build one yet.General Jumbo01 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 12:17 pm Hi, of all the Russian tanks Ive done, Ive yet to build my favorite, the IS3. That's a stunner! Love that workhorse tank you've created.
Always a bit surprised that HL and Taigen never slapped some version of the T34/76 turret on their T34/85 hull to broaden their range. KV-1 to KV-2, PZ III to Stug III, and then they go radio silent on the T34. Looking at yours Tankme, they would've had a winner!
Mike.
